Hal's the Steakhouse is searching for an experienced and passionate Restaurant Assistant General Manager to join our team. As an Assistant General Manager your primary responsibility is to the guest, ensuring that every guest has a wonderful experience and ensure all daily activities run smoothly and efficiently. To be successful as an Assistant General Manager you should have excellent communication skills and a passion for guest service.
You should be someone who leads by example, both in how you interact with your team as well as how to support our guests. You will also assume a variety of responsibilities and duties such as recruiting & hiring restaurant staff, training, overseeing food quality, creating, and executing restaurant strategies, as well as greeting & serving guests, and supporting service.
Ultimately, you will help minimize operating costs, boost our employee retention, and deliver a positive dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee entire restaurant operation.
- Assist General Manager and management team.
- Deliver exceptional guest service and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Assist GM with all menu items and prices.
- Work with assigned vendors to order and manage costs.
- Manage assigned vendor invoices, uploading them to the invoicing system and comparing uploaded invoices to vendor statements.
- Respond efficiently to guest questions and complaints.
- Help with credit card disputes.
- Manage and lead staff by example.
- Organize and supervise shifts, including scheduling employees in your assigned department.
- Work with new hires to complete onboarding paperwork.
- Manage employee documentation (write ups, separation notices, doctor's notes, incident/injury reports, etc.)
- Assist GM to manage forecast requirements, food costs, labor costs, and all other operating costs. (Includes controlling costs and minimizing waste.)
- Assist GM with maintaining and managing inventory.
- Manage Supplies.
- Create a positive work environment.
- Report daily activities to executive management.
- Implement innovative strategies to improve productivity, sales, and food quality.
Requirements:
- Ideally, 5+ years experience as a Manager in a fine-dining, high-volume restaurant or similar
- Ideally, 5+ years in customer service management.
- Extensive food and wine knowledge.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with restaurant management software.
- Experience in event planning. (Not required, but a bonus.)
- Strong leadership, motivational, and people skills.
- Excellent financial management, critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Team player.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
- Available to work within operating hours, including weekends and holidays.
