Job Description
ABA Works is seeking a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) who enjoys working with children and families and is interested in developing both behavioral and mental-health clinical skills. This is a unique Hybrid AMFT / Behavior Technician position.
The employee will provide a minimum of 15 hours per week of direct ABA therapy while also participating in qualifying mental-health clinical activities under the supervision of a California LMFT. BBS-compliant LMFT supervision is provided for qualifying MFT experience toward licensure.

Responsibilities:
ABA / Behavior Technician
- Provide a minimum of 15 hours per week of direct 1:1 ABA therapy.
- Implement individualized behavior and skill-acquisition programs.
- Use play, Natural Environment Teaching (NET), and structured teaching strategies.
- Create engaging learning opportunities for children.
- Collect accurate clinical data and complete session documentation.
- Follow behavior support and safety plans.
- Collaborate with BCBAs, supervisors, caregivers, and other team members.
- Participate in ongoing ABA training and supervision.
AMFT Clinical Responsibilities
Depending on experience, competency, and assigned caseload:
- Provide individual, family, and/or caregiver counseling under LMFT supervision.
- Participate in assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment planning.
- Support children and families with behavioral, emotional, developmental, parenting, and family-system concerns.
- Complete clinical documentation and progress notes.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision addressing treatment, ethics, risk, documentation, and professional development.
- Maintain required California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) supervision and experience documentation.
Please note: ABA Behavior Technician hours do not automatically qualify as direct clinical counseling hours toward LMFT licensure. Qualifying MFT activities and hours will be identified and supervised in accordance with California BBS requirements.
Clinical Supervision & Professional Development
AMFT employees have the opportunity to receive clinical supervision from a qualified California LMFT for qualifying MFT experience.
Clinical supervision may include:

This position is ideal for an AMFT interested in developing a strong foundation in child development, family systems, behavioral intervention, parent support, and mental-health treatment.

Requirements:Required:
- Master's degree meeting California educational requirements toward LMFT licensure.
- Current Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- Ability to provide at least 15 hours of direct ABA therapy per week.
- Interest in working with children, adolescents, caregivers, and families.
- Strong communication, professionalism, reliability, and documentation skills.
- Ability to receive and implement ongoing clinical feedback.
- Willingness to learn and apply ABA principles and behavioral interventions.
Preferred:
- Experience working with children or adolescents.
- Experience with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Previous ABA, Behavior Technician, RBT, counseling, mental-health, or family-support experience.
- Experience working directly with parents and caregivers.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
