Jackman Eye Institute is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Lane Technician to support our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering exceptional eye care.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Welcome patients and prepare them for eye examinations by gathering medical histories, explaining testing, and helping them feel comfortable.
  • Perform preliminary eye examinations, including measuring visual acuity, checking intraocular pressure, and assessing eye muscle function.
  • Administer eye drops as directed by the physician.
  • Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during clinical procedures by preparing equipment, positioning patients, and providing instruments.
  • Support patient education by reinforcing instructions from the clinical team about eye health, treatments, and preventative care.
  • Accurately document medical histories, test results, and care provided in patient records.
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms, maintain and sterilize equipment as required, and keep supplies stocked.
  • Work closely with the clinical team to support patient flow while following health, safety, and infection control protocols.

What You Will Bring

  • Completion of an ophthalmic assistant program or equivalent experience in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and procedures, medical terminology, and basic anatomy and physiology.
  • A patient-focused approach, with the ability to provide clear explanations and reassurance to patients with diverse needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with patients, physicians, and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate, complete patient records.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to support colleagues in delivering quality patient care.
  • Comfort with the physical demands of the role, including standing, moving throughout the shift, and frequently handling equipment and instruments.
