Structural Steel Yard Material Handler in Cocoa, Florida at Qualdoc, LLC

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $22/hour, higher depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour

We are seeking a Material Handler to help keep structural steel production and yard operations running efficiently. This hands-on position involves moving and staging steel, preparing materials for fabrication and shipment, operating heavy material-handling equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized work area.

• Move structural steel and other materials throughout the shop and yard.
• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and Pettibone/telehandler equipment.
• Load, unload, stage, and secure materials for production or shipment.
• Jockey trailers and help maintain an organized and accessible yard.
• Skid, position, and prepare steel and other materials for shipment.
• Operate additional shop and production equipment as needed.
• Clean steel parts and materials before fabrication or shipping.
• Assist with inventory activities, supply tracking, and material movement.
• Coordinate with production crews and outside teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Follow equipment operating procedures, safety requirements, and proper material-handling practices.
• Maintain dependable attendance and contribute to an efficient team environment.

• Hands-on experience operating overhead cranes.
• Experience with Pettibone/telehandler equipment.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.
• Previous material handling or warehouse experience preferred.
• Structural steel experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and position heavy materials.
• Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and operate additional equipment as needed.
