MDC Precision is seeking a Pricing Manager to lead the quote team within the sales Operations structure and strengthen the company’s pricing, costing, and margin management discipline. This role will own the end-to-end quoting process, partner closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance, and ensure customer quotes are accurate, timely, competitive, and aligned with MDC’s margin expectations. Reporting to the VP of Global Sales, with dotted-line accountability to Finance/CFO for costing, margin, and pricing governance, this leader will develop scalable quoting processes, improve cost visibility, support strategic pricing decisions, and provide actionable analytics to drive profitable growth across high-precision vacuum component manufacturing. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and credibly with senior executives, present meaningful business metrics, and execute priorities that support the company’s North Star objectives.
Quote Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and manage the quote team to ensure timely, accurate, and professional customer quote responses.
- Establish clear quote ownership, accountability, and operating cadence across the team.
- Develop team capability in costing, pricing, customer responsiveness, data quality, and commercial judgment.
End-to-End Quoting Process
- Own the quote workflow from RFQ intake through cost build-up, pricing review, approval routing, quote release, and post-quote analysis.
- Develop quoting standards, templates, approval matrices, pricing guidelines, and process controls to improve consistency and accountability.
- Streamline quoting, reduce turnaround time, improve quote quality, and strengthen pricing governance.
Costing Accuracy, Pricing Strategy, and Margin Analysis
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to validate material, labor, overhead, outside processing, freight, tooling, and other cost inputs.
- Analyze quote-level, customer-level, and product-level profitability; identify margin leakage, pricing inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Support pricing decisions that balance competitiveness, customer expectations, capacity constraints, market conditions, and required margin thresholds.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to resolve quote assumptions, lead-time inputs, cost gaps, and customer requirements.
- Ensure quoting priorities are aligned with sales strategy, operational capacity, and company financial objectives.
Executive Reporting, Metrics, and North Star Execution
- Track quote cycle time, win/loss trends, gross margin performance, pricing exceptions, quote backlog, and other key commercial metrics.
- Provide clear reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Translate company priorities into measurable quote-team objectives and execute actions that support MDC’s North Star objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA, CPA, CMA, or advanced analytical certification is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in costing, pricing, quoting, FP&A, cost accounting, or commercial finance within a manufacturing environment; precision manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, or engineered products experience strongly preferred.
- Prior experience leading a quoting, pricing, cost analysis, finance, sales operations, or commercial operations team.
- Strong understanding of standard costing, BOMs, routers, labor rates, overhead absorption, gross margin analysis, manufacturing cost drivers, and pricing governance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP experience; experience with manufacturing systems, quoting tools, BI/reporting platforms, and cost models preferred.
- Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to speak intelligently and confidently with senior executives and present quote-team performance in the context of company priorities.
- Strong business acumen, attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership mindset.
