Engineering Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Subject Matter Expert (AI Training) based in United States.

This role leverages deep engineering expertise to help shape the next generation of AI systems by improving how they understand, evaluate, and reason about real-world technical concepts. You will work on reviewing engineering documentation, validating technical accuracy, and contributing practical knowledge drawn from real industry experience. The role involves translating complex engineering principles into structured, high-quality content that can be used for AI training and evaluation. You will also assess AI-generated outputs, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and provide expert feedback to improve system performance. The environment is remote, collaborative, and highly detail-oriented, with a strong focus on technical rigor and clarity. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy applying their domain expertise beyond traditional project work and into emerging AI applications. Your input will directly enhance the reliability and reasoning capabilities of AI systems across engineering domains.

Accountabilities:
  • Review and analyze engineering documentation such as technical reports, design specifications, project analyses, and system descriptions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Evaluate technical content for adherence to engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide detailed expert feedback, clarifications, and recommendations on complex engineering scenarios and problem statements.
  • Develop engineering-based examples, case studies, and structured problem sets to improve AI learning and reasoning.
  • Create clear, well-structured technical explanations that strengthen AI understanding of real-world engineering concepts.
  • Assess AI-generated engineering responses for correctness, logic, and technical depth, identifying errors and inconsistencies.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of high-quality engineering datasets used for AI training and evaluation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, Electronics, Manufacturing, or related engineering fields.
  • Proven experience preparing engineering reports, technical documentation, design specifications, or project analyses in academic or professional settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to technical detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Experience working with engineering standards, design processes, or technical validation workflows is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deliverables effectively in a remote, distributed environment.
  • Strong capability to bridge technical engineering knowledge with clear, structured communication for diverse audiences.
Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $20–$40/hour (contract-based role).
  • Fully remote work with flexible scheduling and asynchronous collaboration.
  • Opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI systems using real-world engineering expertise.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering challenges across AI training and evaluation projects.
  • Professional experience working at the intersection of engineering, data, and artificial intelligence.
  • Potential for long-term engagement based on performance and project needs.
