Job Description

Gray Line Tennessee is Nashville's Leader in Transportation with over 250 vehicles in the fleet and over 300 employees dedicated to providing safe, authentic, and professional transportation services. Position Summary:

The Lead Foreman – 2nd Shift Maintenance is responsible for overseeing second shift maintenance operations while actively performing repairs and maintenance on Gray Line Tennessee’s diverse fleet of commercial passenger vehicles, including motorcoaches, minibuses, school buses, trolleys, and double-decker buses.

This position serves as the primary leader for second shift mechanics, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards. The Lead Foreman will provide direction to technicians, prioritize daily work assignments, complete required documentation, and maintain communication between maintenance leadership and the second shift team.

Ideal candidates will have strong mechanical experience, leadership ability, and knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance, including Ford E-Series, F-Series, Cummins engines, or similar commercial vehicle platforms.

Salary:

$22-36/hour
Quarterly Bonuses and Tool Allowance after 90-day Probationary Period
Paid in-house CDL Training available with clean driving record.

Schedule:

Full Time, Second Shift
Rotating Weekends as Needed

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, support, and provide daily direction to second shift mechanics.
• Assign, prioritize, and monitor repair work to ensure vehicles are maintained and returned to service efficiently.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles.
• Evaluate mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment and determine appropriate repairs.
• Assist mechanics with complex repairs and provide technical guidance when needed.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance standards are met.
• Complete and maintain accurate maintenance paperwork, repair documentation, preventive maintenance records, and required reports.
• Communicate vehicle status, shop needs, employee concerns, and maintenance updates to management.
• Monitor technician productivity and ensure work is completed within established timelines.
• Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and machinery according to safety guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and assist with corrective actions.
• Support inventory control by communicating parts, tools, and supply needs.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment within the maintenance department.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous leadership, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a shop environment with knowledge of diesel and gas engines.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills on commercial vehicles.
• Ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on with maintenance responsibilities.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of computers and ability to complete electronic maintenance records and data entry.
• Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in a shop environment in all weather conditions.

Requires walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Work outside and inside around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts.
