This co-op opportunity offers hands-on experience in integrated circuit design, system simulation, and software development within a collaborative engineering environment.
You will contribute to executable software models that simulate IP and SoC hardware, supporting architectural exploration and pre-silicon firmware development and validation.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will tackle complex development and debugging challenges while contributing to real-world custom silicon solutions.
The role provides exposure to model design, implementation, testing, infrastructure development, and technical support.
You will have opportunities to work with both established industry technologies and emerging tools, methodologies, and development processes.
This position is well suited to an enthusiastic engineering or computer science student who enjoys solving technical problems and learning across hardware and software domains.
The role is fully remote within the designated Canadian provinces, with occasional in-person meetings in the Vancouver area.

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and testing of executable software models that simulate IP and SoC hardware.
• Support architectural exploration and pre-silicon firmware development and validation through accurate and effective system simulation models.
• Work alongside experienced engineers to investigate and resolve complex software, hardware, and debugging challenges.
• Participate in infrastructure development supporting simulation, modeling, testing, and validation activities.
• Apply software development and testing methodologies to create reliable and maintainable solutions.
• Provide technical support and collaborate with engineering stakeholders on simulation-related challenges and requirements.
• Learn and apply industry-standard and emerging technologies, tools, and engineering processes.
• Contribute to projects involving integrated circuit design and test, from custom design modules through broader SoC development.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 months of relevant experience, which may be gained through academic coursework, school projects, internships, or other relevant experience.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design methodologies.
• Experience with programming languages such as C or C++.
• General knowledge of embedded systems, digital ASIC design, and software or firmware development and testing methodologies is an asset.
• Experience with embedded software development on platforms such as ARM, RISC-V, or x86 is preferred.
• Scripting experience with Python, TCL, or another scripting language is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, curiosity, willingness to learn, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment while developing the independence needed for technical problem solving.
• Candidates must live and work remotely from the designated Canadian work location, which may be Ontario, British Columbia, or both, depending on the position designation.
