This remote freelance role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented proofreader who takes pride in producing accurate, polished educational content. You will review web-based materials and PDFs, checking language, formatting, consistency, and overall quality. A key part of the role involves comparing digital content against PDF versions to identify discrepancies and ensure everything aligns precisely. You will work closely with curriculum designers and project managers while helping keep projects on schedule. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to learning materials used by a broad audience of students and educators. This is a flexible, independent consulting engagement with an initial six-month term and potential for extension.
As a Content Proofreader, you will help maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency across educational materials while collaborating with project teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Proofread educational content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, accuracy, and consistency.
- Review website content and PDFs side-by-side to identify discrepancies and ensure information matches.
- Identify, document, and clearly communicate errors, inconsistencies, and other content issues.
- Collaborate with curriculum designers and project managers to address corrections and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain consistent quality standards across assigned content and deliverables.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is meticulous, organized, and comfortable working independently in a deadline-driven environment. Strong proofreading skills and the ability to identify even subtle inconsistencies are essential.
- Prior experience in proofreading and/or editing is required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written communication and command of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
- Proficiency with Google Docs and Google Sheets.
- Ability to work independently and reliably meet weekly deadlines.
- Availability for up to 10 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours depending on project needs.
