Building Service Worker in Hinesville, Georgia at Liberty County Board of Commissioners

JOB SUMMARY

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the full-time position of Building Service Worker within the Building Maintenance Department. This role helps to keep county buildings clean, safe, and welcoming for employees and visitors. You will handle everyday cleaning tasks like dusting, sweeping, sanitizing restrooms, and refreshing common areas. You will also set up rooms for meetings and events, maintain equipment, and work closely with your supervisor to keep supplies stocked. MAJOR DUTIES

1. Performs general cleaning and dusting of county buildings to include entryway floors and doors, hallways, elevators, and stairways.
2. Cleans and sanitizers restroom facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals, toilets, countertops; empties trash and replenishes paper products in restrooms.
3. Dusts furniture, window blinds, baseboards, walls, windows, picture frames, and bookshelves; washes windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other surfaces as needed.
4. Cleans meeting rooms, courtrooms, hallways, offices, kitchens, and other areas.
5. Sets up and takes down equipment, tables, and chairs for meetings and events.
6. Sweeps floors and stairways; mops, strips, and buffs floors; vacuums and spot-cleans carpets. Sweeps and mops inmate areas.
7. Empties trash and recycle bins in the building.
8. Maintains various types of equipment.
9. Communicates with supervisor on needed supplies.
10. Cross-trains with other building service workers.
11. Performs related duties.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

• Cleaning practices, cleaning chemical/supplies, and safety equipment.
• How to use chemicals, avoid dangerous interactions, and proper disposal methods.
• Safe lifting and handling procedures to avoid injuries.
• Operating a variety of cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Interpersonal relations.
• Oral and written communication.
• Able to work independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes sense of smell.
• The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, a noisy place, or outdoors occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as ear protection, masks, goggles, and gloves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Less than one (1) year of related experience required.
• Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license.

SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position with a starting annual compensation of $36,905.68 (Pay Grade 9A), or $17.74 per hour. The typical work schedule is 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
