Job Description

Software Solutions Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Solutions Specialist based in United States.

This senior customer-facing role brings deep North American lumber and building materials (LBM) industry expertise into complex ERP implementation projects.
You’ll act as a bridge between customers, delivery teams, product leaders, and developers, helping translate real-world operations into effective software solutions.
The role combines implementation leadership, operational consulting, product feedback, and internal enablement.
You’ll help customers modernize processes, reduce unnecessary customization, and make confident decisions throughout discovery, design, testing, and go-live.
Your direct project experience will also influence product evolution by identifying recurring workflow challenges, usability issues, and functional gaps.
The position is ideal for an experienced LBM professional who understands legacy ERP environments and can communicate credibly with both business and technical stakeholders.
You’ll play a hands-on role in strengthening customer outcomes and shaping scalable solutions for the North American LBM market.

Accountabilities:

Customer Project & Solution Leadership

  • Act as a senior LBM industry specialist across ERP implementation projects.
  • Lead or support discovery sessions with customer executives, owners, managers, and operational teams.
  • Translate business requirements into practical LBM process designs and solution approaches.
  • Challenge legacy habits or requirements that may introduce unnecessary complexity or customization.
  • Guide customers toward scalable and effective ways of working.
  • Support implementation activities including solution design, configuration, validation, testing, and go-live readiness.

LBM Operational Expertise

  • Apply practical knowledge of North American LBM operations to customer projects.
  • Advise on purchasing, inventory, pricing, contractor sales, dispatch, estimating, rebates, EDI, warehouse operations, branch management, and multi-location distribution.
  • Explain how legacy ERP systems influence customer expectations, processes, and workflows.
  • Identify situations where process improvements are needed rather than simply configuring software around existing practices.
  • Provide guidance on industry standards, exceptions, and commercially important workflows.

Product Influence & Functional Feedback

  • Identify functional gaps, usability challenges, and workflow friction encountered during implementation.
  • Partner with Product and Development teams to communicate the operational impact of customer requirements.
  • Validate proposed solutions against real-world LBM environments.
  • Prioritize feedback based on customer impact, repeatability, and broader market relevance.
  • Contribute evidence and practical industry insight to product design and prioritization discussions.
  • Help ensure product evolution remains relevant to the North American LBM market.

Delivery Enablement

  • Support consultants and project managers with LBM-specific expertise throughout delivery.
  • Standardize recommended processes, solution patterns, and implementation approaches.
  • Reduce ambiguity during discovery and design through practical industry interpretation.
  • Develop reusable templates, workflows, examples, and implementation guidance.
  • Coach internal teams on LBM-specific customer scenarios and operational requirements.
  • Share industry and legacy ERP knowledge to support onboarding and internal capability development.

Customer & Executive Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with customer executives, owners, managers, and operational leaders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor during workshops, project reviews, steering meetings, and escalations.
  • Help customers balance operational, technical, and commercial considerations when making decisions.
  • Establish credibility as an industry-focused software partner rather than a generic technology provider.
  • Support strategic customer engagements where operational alignment or product uncertainty could affect project outcomes.

Market & Legacy Product Insight

  • Maintain awareness of North American LBM trends, customer expectations, and competitive pressures.
  • Bring knowledge of legacy LBM ERP products and related business management systems into customer and internal discussions.
  • Help internal teams understand what customers value, which established workflows they rely on, and where resistance to change may arise.
  • Feed market and legacy-system insights into delivery planning, product prioritization, and internal enablement.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience working in or around the North American lumber and building materials (LBM) industry.
  • Experience within an LBM dealer, distributor, buying group, software vendor, or ERP implementation environment.
  • Strong understanding of LBM workflows, including purchasing, inventory, pricing, dispatch, contractor sales, estimating, rebates, EDI, and multi-branch operations.
  • Experience with legacy LBM ERP products or business management systems.
  • Ability to lead customer conversations with confidence and establish credibility with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to simplify complex operational challenges into clear decisions and practical actions.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without relying on formal authority.
  • Excellent communication skills across customers, consultants, developers, product teams, and senior leadership.
  • Practical, outcome-focused approach to problem solving and implementation.
  • Comfortable working directly on customer implementation projects and engaging hands-on with delivery teams.
  • Ability to bridge business processes, software capabilities, and customer outcomes.
  • Strong interest in improving ERP solutions and shaping technology around real-world LBM operating models.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision healthcare coverage.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • AD&D insurance.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Employee assistance program.
  • Wellness reimbursement.
  • 20 days of PTO per year.
  • Company-observed holidays.
  • Flexible working arrangements designed to support work-life balance.
  • Compensation package aligned with the scope and experience required for the role.
