We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking an experienced and accomplished Principal to support the continued growth and execution of the firm’s Energy Market strategy. This senior leader will bring a strong client perspective, established industry relationships, and provide practical market insight. The Principal will advise the Energy Market Leader, support priority client accounts, strengthen staff understanding of client needs, and help convert strategic initiatives into measurable action. This is a part-time role based in our Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, or Dayton, OH office.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:
- Advise the Energy Market Leader on client priorities, market conditions, competitors, regulatory and industry trends, and emerging opportunities.
- Provide an informed client perspective to help technical and business development staff better understand client needs, decision-making processes, procurement practices, and measures of value.
- Participate in select client meetings, conferences, industry events, and other external activities that strengthen relationships and expand H&A’s market presence.
- Support priority client accounts by informing account strategies, identifying relationship gaps, developing engagement approaches, and helping teams pursue appropriate opportunities.
- Provide practical guidance to move priority Energy Market initiatives from strategy to measurable action, including defined next steps, responsibilities, schedules, and indicators of progress.
- Connect Energy Market leadership and technical teams with relevant clients, partners, and industry contacts.
- Coach and advise staff on client engagement, market positioning, and business development.
- Collaborate across practices and geographies to align H&A’s technical capabilities with changing client and market needs.
- Contribute to selected proposals, presentations, account plans, and pursuit strategies.
- Represent H&A’s values and commitment to technically sound, responsive, and collaborative client service.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, business, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Senior-level experience in the energy sector, consulting, engineering, environmental services, or a related field.
- Established knowledge of energy-sector clients, market dynamics, competitors, and business drivers.
- Demonstrated success building trusted client relationships and advising senior leaders.
- Ability to translate market intelligence and strategic priorities into focused, practical actions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to participate in client meetings, conferences, and industry events, including periodic travel.
- Located in, or able to work regularly from, H&A’s Cleveland or Cincinnati office.
- Availability for a part-time schedule, with specific hours established based on business needs and candidate availability.
Preferred Skills:
- Existing relationships with priority energy-sector clients and industry organizations in Ohio, the Midwest, or other H&A target markets.
- Experience supporting client account planning, business development, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Familiarity with environmental, geotechnical, infrastructure, permitting, compliance, or related services for energy clients.
- Professional registration or certification relevant to the candidate’s discipline.
The salary range for this position in Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, or Dayton, OH is $115 per hour - $120 per hour. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
