Job Description

Finance Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Finance Lead based in United States.

This is a high-ownership finance leadership opportunity at a rapidly growing technology company transforming the mortgage industry through automation and AI. As the first dedicated finance hire, you will own the financial function end to end while building the planning and reporting capabilities needed to support significant growth. The role combines accounting, FP&A, cash management, financial modeling, and strategic business partnership. You will work closely with department leaders to translate financial data into actionable insights and support informed decision-making. The position offers substantial autonomy and the opportunity to build scalable finance processes, systems, and controls from the ground up. It is well suited to a finance generalist who enjoys both operational detail and strategic analysis in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Build and own the company’s financial model, including budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning across revenue, headcount, operating expenses, and other key financial drivers.
  • Partner with department leaders on budgeting and financial planning, providing budget-to-actual analysis, supporting headcount planning, and reviewing departmental spending.
  • Own the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and the delivery of accurate financial statements on a consistent timeline.
  • Maintain GAAP-compliant financial records and ensure the finance function remains audit-ready as the organization grows, working closely with external accountants and auditors.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, customer invoicing, and day-to-day cash flow monitoring to maintain strong financial operations.
  • Develop and implement scalable finance systems, tools, and processes as the business grows beyond spreadsheet-based workflows.
  • Establish clear and documented processes for financial close, forecasting, reporting, and other core finance activities.
  • Provide financial insights that help leadership understand business performance, unit economics, spending trends, and future financial requirements.
  • Support strategic finance activities such as fundraising processes and board reporting when required.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience as a finance generalist with strong capabilities across accounting, financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, and operational finance.
  • Strong understanding of monthly close processes, reconciliations, accruals, GAAP-compliant accounting, and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Proven ability to build and manage financial models, budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario analyses across multiple business drivers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect financial data to business performance and translate insights into practical recommendations.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and business-partnering skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with department leaders and explain financial information clearly.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining accurate, timely, and reliable financial information.
  • Ability to operate independently, take ownership of a broad finance function, and build processes and systems in an evolving, high-growth environment.
  • Experience with modern finance and accounting tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or comparable platforms, along with strong spreadsheet and business intelligence capabilities, is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed SaaS environment is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting fundraising activities or preparing board-level financial reporting is a plus.
  • Background in mortgage, fintech, B2B SaaS, or another financial technology environment is preferred but not required.
Benefits:
  • Targeted cash compensation of $160,000–$190,000 USD per year, with final offers based on factors including experience and expertise.
  • Robust medical, vision, and dental coverage, with approximately 100% of employee premiums covered.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents, including birthing, non-birthing, and adoptive parents.
  • Remote-first working culture with a hub in San Francisco.
  • Generous work-from-anywhere and wellness benefits.
  • Monthly DoorDash benefits.
  • Flexible and encouraged time off.
  • Company offsites designed to support collaboration and team connection.
  • Opportunity to build and lead a finance function from the ground up while supporting a rapidly growing technology business.
