This role provides case management services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.
You will support clients through intake, assessment, planning, intervention, monitoring, and transition or service termination.
The position combines professional social work practice with a family-centered and ecological approach to care.
You will work closely with families, care providers, agencies, and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen support networks and improve outcomes.
The role requires sound independent judgment, strong clinical skills, and the ability to respond appropriately to complex or high-risk situations.
Most services are delivered remotely, with some in-person work taking place in clients’ homes or communities when needed.

• Manage an active caseload of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, providing assessment, service planning, intervention, monitoring, and outcome evaluation.

• Conduct referrals and intake activities, including gathering relevant information and determining appropriate service needs.

• Complete comprehensive social and family assessments using an ecological and family-centered framework, including risk assessments where appropriate.

• Develop individualized case plans and provide counselling, support services, and intervention strategies tailored to children and family circumstances.

• Respond to crisis situations and protection-related concerns, applying appropriate procedures and escalating risks when necessary.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of interventions to ensure positive and meaningful outcomes for clients and families.

• Support families in strengthening their networks, knowledge, skills, competencies, stability, and ability to make informed decisions.

• Provide services through direct, mediated, and consultative practice models in virtual, home, community, and other appropriate settings.

• Develop, access, and coordinate formal and informal supports and community resources based on client and family needs.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, plans, interventions, outcomes, and case activity using established protocols and systems.

• Establish professional and trusting relationships with children, families, care providers, colleagues, and community partners.

• Provide supportive, adjustment, and crisis counselling as appropriate to client needs.

• Develop and facilitate specialized group interventions and document their benefits, outcomes, and effectiveness.

• Organize, chair, and participate in meetings with families, service providers, agencies, and interdisciplinary teams.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals to provide coordinated services across clinical, educational, community, and living environments.

• Prepare clients and families for transitions and determine the appropriate level of support required when services end.

• Stay informed about social policy, emerging trends, best practices, service gaps, and opportunities affecting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.

• Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve service delivery, procedures, quality, accessibility, and innovation.

• Support and participate in volunteer and student mentorship initiatives when appropriate.

• Follow all applicable professional standards, legislation, organizational policies, risk-management requirements, and workplace health and safety practices.

• Provide services with a strong focus on self-determination, family participation, dignity, accessibility, and client-centered outcomes.

• Provide after-hours, evening, or weekend services when required by client needs and program responsibilities.

• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from an accredited university.

• Eligibility for and continued registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers, including fulfillment of applicable continuing education requirements.

• At least 2 years of social work experience in developmental disabilities is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience working with children and families, particularly in developmental disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder.

• Strong knowledge and practical experience applying family-centered models of service delivery.

• Knowledge of the history, current practices, philosophies, and service systems supporting people with disabilities.

• Understanding of applicable legislation and regulations, including child and family services, vulnerable persons, and personal health information requirements.

• Expertise in conducting social and family assessments using ecological and family-centered approaches.

• Knowledge of psychosocial and environmental factors associated with chronic disabilities and their potential impact on family functioning and adjustment.

• Strong counselling skills, including supportive, adjustment, and crisis counselling.

• Ability to assess risk, exercise sound clinical judgment, and respond appropriately to complex situations.

• Ability to develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships built on trust, respect, integrity, and clear boundaries.

• Working knowledge of service systems and the ability to identify, coordinate, or develop formal and informal supports.

• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to record plans, interventions, and outcomes accurately and within required timelines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate openly, appropriately, and effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Ability to organize and facilitate meetings and contribute effectively to interdisciplinary teams.

• Ability to manage a significant caseload while prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while recognizing clinical limitations and seeking consultation when appropriate.

• Strong interpersonal skills, emotional stability, humility, self-awareness, and the ability to establish productive professional relationships.

• Willingness and ability to travel for in-person services when required.

• Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or after-hours services as needed.

• French/English bilingual proficiency is considered an asset.

• Successful candidates must be able to provide satisfactory criminal record, vulnerable sector, adult abuse registry, child abuse registry, and prior contact checks.

• Ability to complete required occupational health assessments and provide confirmation of applicable immunization or immunity requirements.
