Job Description

SAP Data Migration Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP Data Migration Lead based in Canada.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity leading the data migration workstream for a global SAP S/4HANA Greenfield implementation.
You will own the migration strategy, governance, planning, readiness, and execution across business and technical stakeholders.
The role serves as the central point of coordination between the organization, system integrator, functional teams, and legacy-system owners.
You will drive data quality, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and business approval throughout successive migration cycles.
The position also plays a critical role in SIT, UAT, mock conversions, cutover, go-live, and post-go-live support.
Success requires strong leadership, structured execution, and the ability to resolve complex data issues across a global ERP transformation.
The role is remote and supports teams across multiple countries and manufacturing locations, with travel as required.

Accountabilities
  • Define and govern the overall SAP data migration strategy, scope, governance model, success criteria, and readiness approach, ensuring migration activities remain aligned with business objectives.

  • Act as the primary liaison between business process owners, functional teams, system integrators, legacy-system stakeholders, and other project participants, facilitating decisions and managing dependencies.

  • Establish and oversee migration scope, object inventories, source-system inventories, data readiness activities, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and business approval processes.

  • Lead the migration work execution plan and coordinate migration cycles, including system integration testing, user acceptance testing, mock conversions, production migration, and post-migration validation.

  • Track migration risks, issues, defects, dependencies, readiness indicators, and cycle outcomes, escalating challenges and driving timely resolution.

  • Partner with the cutover lead to plan and execute final data migration activities, including validation, reconciliation, business sign-off, and post-go-live support.

  • Manage system integrator deliverables, timelines, quality expectations, assumptions, and dependencies while removing roadblocks and ensuring migration objectives are achieved.

  • Develop and maintain migration governance frameworks, readiness assessments, quality dashboards, validation plans, reconciliation frameworks, risk and issue logs, and final sign-off documentation.

  • Lead the planning and execution of historical data migration to satisfy operational, reporting, and compliance requirements.

  • Support large-scale ERP transformation activities across global manufacturing operations and contribute to continuous improvements in data quality, governance, and migration efficiency.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in SAP or ERP data migration, with demonstrated experience leading complex enterprise migration initiatives.

  • Strong hands-on experience leading SAP S/4HANA data migration workstreams, preferably within Greenfield implementation programs.

  • Strong understanding of SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA master data and transactional data structures.

  • Proven experience working with system integrators and governing data migration deliverables, timelines, quality standards, and dependencies.

  • Solid knowledge of data quality, cleansing, governance, validation, reconciliation, readiness assessment, and business sign-off processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Strong project planning, risk management, issue-resolution, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data and migration topics into clear business decisions and actions.

  • Manufacturing industry experience is preferred, particularly experience supporting global ERP environments.

  • Experience managing migrations from multiple SAP legacy environments is preferred.

  • Familiarity with SAP Migration Cockpit, SAP MDG, SAP BTP, integration platforms, and enterprise data management solutions is advantageous.

  • Experience supporting large-scale ERP cutover and go-live activities is preferred.

  • Experience using data migration and data quality tools to improve accuracy and reduce migration effort is desirable.

  • Exposure to AI-enabled technologies for improving data quality is a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment and adapt to changing project priorities.

  • Willingness to travel to U.S. locations and global manufacturing facilities as required, with additional hours occasionally needed for project milestones, global coordination, maintenance windows, or go-live activities.

Benefits
  • 12-month contract opportunity supporting a major SAP S/4HANA Greenfield transformation.

  • Remote work arrangement available across the United States, with the broader role also supporting teams in Belgium, Canada, France, and Mexico.

  • Opportunity to lead a high-impact enterprise data migration workstream across a global manufacturing environment.

  • Exposure to SAP S/4HANA, data governance, migration tooling, integration technologies, and modern enterprise data practices.

  • Significant ownership and visibility across business, functional, technical, and system-integrator teams.

  • Opportunity to contribute to ERP simplification, data quality improvement, and global operational transformation.

  • Time-zone preference aligned with 6:00 AM–12:00 PM Eastern Time.

  • Travel support for U.S. and global manufacturing locations as required.

  • Potential for additional hours around critical project milestones, cutover, and go-live activities.
