Description:

Miami Children’s Museum is seeking an accomplished and strategic Deputy Director to serve as the CEO/Executive Director’s principal partner in advancing the Museum’s mission, growth, and organizational excellence.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Deputy Director will help drive philanthropic growth, elevate the Museum’s brand and community presence, and strengthen organizational performance. This role provides leadership across development, marketing and communications, financial planning, technology, strategic partnerships, and institutional operations. In the CEO/Executive Director’s absence, the Deputy Director will provide leadership and oversight for the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner closely with the CEO/Executive Director as a trusted strategic advisor, translating organizational priorities into measurable results.
  • Lead the development team’s efforts across institutional giving, corporate partnerships, special events, donor engagement, and stewardship.
  • Guide marketing, communications, and public relations strategies to increase attendance, revenue, community engagement, and visibility.
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, Board reporting, and organizational performance metrics.
  • Champion technology and innovation across the Museum, including IT operations, cybersecurity, data systems, capital improvements, and digital transformation.
  • Represent Miami Children’s Museum with philanthropic, corporate, civic, community, and government partners.
  • Strengthen organizational systems, policies, and cross-departmental collaboration to support an effective, high-performing institution.
  • Step into organizational leadership responsibilities in the CEO/Executive Director’s absence.
Requirements:

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience within nonprofit, cultural, educational, museum, or other mission-driven organizations.
  • A demonstrated track record of success in philanthropy, marketing, organizational strategy, and institutional growth.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with experience partnering with senior finance leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with the executive presence to represent the Museum across a variety of audiences.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work effectively across departments, with senior leaders, and with external partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

The Details

This is a full-time, exempt, 100% onsite position in Miami, Florida, with evening and weekend responsibilities as needed. The Deputy Director reports directly to the CEO/Executive Director.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
