Job SummaryThe Eddy Current Level II NDI Technician supports the Aircraft Maintenance Group at Tinker AFB by conducting critical inspections to ensure aircraft structural integrity and compliance with U.S. Air Force standards. This role specializes in eddy current inspections but may support other NDI methods as qualified. The ideal candidate will have strong experience performing inspections on aircraft components, preferably with EVI (Electromagnetic Visual Inspection) certification and Eddy MAUS (Manual Analysis Ultrasonic System) experience, though these are not required. The NDI Technician works closely with other maintenance professionals to identify and report defects and uphold flight safety.
Responsibilities- Perform Level II eddy current inspections on aircraft components and systems in accordance with applicable technical orders, industry standards, and USAF regulations.
- Ensure accurate detection and evaluation of discontinuities in metallic structures.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports and records following quality control standards.
- Support additional NDI methods (e.g., ultrasonic, x-ray, dye penetrant, magnetic particle) within certification scope, if needed.
- Follow proper safety procedures, environmental protocols, and hazardous material handling guidelines.
- Interface with quality assurance and maintenance teams to communicate inspection results.
- Maintain certification and training currency in assigned NDI methods.
- Recommend process improvements or adjustments to enhance inspection effectiveness and reduce aircraft downtime.
- Optionally utilize Eddy MAUS for composite and metallic structure analysis (preferred but not required).
- Apply EVI techniques where qualified (preferred but not required).
- Support adherence to ISO, NAS 410, or ASNT standards as applicable.
- Certification as Level II in Eddy Current per NAS 410, ASNT, or equivalent military standard.
- Minimum 3 years of aircraft-related NDI experience.
- Understanding of aircraft structural components and material characteristics.
- Skilled in the use of NDI equipment, tools, and technical data.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and inspection procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Active Secret Clearance (or eligibility to obtain).
- Preferred but not required: Certification or experience in EVI.
