Job Description:

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to support a large-scale tolling modernization program. The role will provide technical leadership across SQL Server, .NET/C#, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and microservices modernization. The Lead will work closely with the PM/Scrum Master, SME, developers, QA, DevOps, Cloud, and BA teams to modernize a monolithic database into microservice-aligned schemas and deliver reliable, secure, and audit-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical design discussions for microservices, database restructuring, and API integration.

• Perform hands-on SQL Server development, including schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, indexing, and performance tuning.

• Support .NET/C# backend and API development, including data-access patterns.

• Design and support Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines and ETL/migration workflows.

• Guide senior engineers through technical decisions, code reviews, and solution design.

• Collaborate with PM/Scrum Master and SME to support delivery, technical decisions, and project execution.

• Review technical documentation and ensure solutions align with modernization and audit timelines.

• Partner with cross-functional teams across .NET, SQL, BA, QA, DevOps, Cloud, and CAB.

• Support secure data handling and compliance requirements, including PCI and data-retention standards.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall IT experience.

• 7+ years of SQL Server development experience.

• 7+ years of .NET/C# backend development experience.

• 3+ years of technical leadership experience.

• 3+ years of modernization or migration project experience.

• 3+ years of Azure SQL on IaaS VM environments.

• 5+ years of Azure Data Factory and ETL experience.

• 5+ years supporting Agile/delivery teams.

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and database modernization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in state government or transportation environments.

• Experience working in regulated or audited environments.

• Experience with PCI, data retention, and secure data practices.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and technical decision-making skills.
