QC INSPECTOR – AEROSPACE & DEFENSE MANUFACTURING
JOB SUMMARY
New Age Precision Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our Aerospace and Defense manufacturing team. The QC Inspector is responsible for performing dimensional, visual, and documentation inspections to ensure manufactured parts and assemblies conform to customer drawings, specifications, work instructions, and the company's Quality Management System.
The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting precision-manufactured components and be comfortable using Height Gauges, comparators, micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T, and aerospace quality requirements.
OBJECTIVES
• Maintain 100% quality on products shipped to customers.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date inspection records.
• Ensure the smooth and timely flow of products through the inspection process.
• Identify and communicate quality issues promptly to prevent nonconforming products from progressing to the next operation or reaching the customer.
PURPOSE
The QC Inspector is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Quality Control processes and procedures established by the Quality Department, including requirements applicable to the company's AS9100 Quality Management System.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts, components, and subassemblies to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements.
2. Perform First Piece, In-Process, Final, Receiving, and Outside Labor (OSL) inspections as required.
3. Inspect incoming raw materials and purchased components as required by applicable procedures and customer requirements.
4. Utilize precision inspection equipment including optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, and other measuring equipment.
5. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, GD&T, and engineering requirements to accurately determine product conformity.
6. Perform inspections in accordance with established sampling plans, inspection procedures, and customer requirements.
7. Perform or assist with inspection and calibration activities as required.
8. Verify that all required manufacturing operations have been completed and that travelers, routers, and other production documentation are complete and accurate.
9. Enter inspection results and quality data accurately into the appropriate electronic and/or manual quality systems.
10. Complete and maintain inspection documentation, including First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and other required quality records.
11. Identify nonconforming material and immediately notify the appropriate Production, Quality, and Management personnel.
12. Properly identify and place nonconforming products under quarantine/hold in accordance with company procedures.
13. Assist with the investigation and documentation of non-conformances and support corrective action activities as required.
14. Verify that inspection and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintain calibration records as assigned.
15. Maintain inspection equipment, gauges, and work areas in an organized and controlled condition.
16. Provide timely feedback to Production regarding inspection results, defects, and potential quality issues.
17. Work closely with Quality Management (QM), Engineering, and Production to resolve quality issues and maintain product conformity.
18. Support internal and customer audits by providing accurate inspection records and documentation when required.
19. Follow all company procedures related to quality, safety, ITAR, AS9100, customer requirements, and controlled documentation.
20. Perform additional Quality Control duties and support Quality Department activities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment; aerospace and defense experience preferred.
3. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T.
4. Experience using precision inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges, and other dimensional measuring equipment.
5. Experience performing First Piece, In-Process, Final, and Receiving inspections.
6. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, brazing, and finishing processes.
7. Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.
8. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies between manufactured products and engineering requirements.
9. Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
10. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
12. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
• Experience working in an AS9100-certified environment.
• Familiarity with FAI/AS9102 requirements.
• Experience with electronic quality management systems.
• Familiarity with Nadcap, customer-specific, and aerospace quality requirements.
• Previous experience inspecting complex, low-volume/high-mix precision components.
