Job Description
Imagineeer is a fast-growing SBA 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business headquartered in Arlington, VA, delivering federal AI modernization across health, defense, homeland security, and transportation. We design, test, and deploy secure, AI-ready systems that move agencies from pilots to production without breaking governance, compliance, or mission continuity. Our Mission Studio model creates shared environments where policy, data, security, and operations come together. We are capability-driven and competitive by design, not program-dependent. Our leadership has operated inside the federal systems we now transform, bringing institutional knowledge that accelerates delivery and reduces risk. If real delivery motivates you more than slides, and you want your work to compound across programs and agencies, Imagineeer is growing and we are building the team to match.
About the role
Imagineeer is seeking a Cloud Environment Lead to build and secure a contractor-provided sandbox for integration, data-movement, and security testing of commercial acquisition tools for a federal civilian department. The sandbox runs in a FedRAMP-authorized cloud region, holds only synthetic data, has no connection to agency networks, and is delivered to the client as infrastructure-as-code so it can be stood up in the agency's own account.
You will own the environment and hosting checkpoint in the firm's decision methodology: does the sandbox meet agency security standards, and can it be handed over as code?
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and secure the sandbox aligned to NIST SP 800-53 Moderate, agency OCIO standards, and CIS benchmarks.
- Author and maintain the environment as infrastructure-as-code and hand the blueprint to the client at transition.
- Support security reviews of the sandbox and contribute to authorization packages.
- Support candidate tool assessments for hosting and integration requirements.
- Lead the Cloud Operations Engineer in day-to-day sandbox operations.
- Work with The contractor-provided sandbox in a FedRAMP-authorized cloud region, with mock AMS/PRISM, FPDS-NG, and SAM.gov interfaces and synthetic data
- Infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- FedRAMP-authorized cloud services (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 10 or more years of systems engineering experience, including at least 5 years building secure cloud environments in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep).
- Experience implementing NIST SP 800-53 controls and CIS benchmarks in FedRAMP-authorized cloud regions.
- Experience supporting federal security assessments or ATO efforts.
- Ability to pass the client's contractor security vetting and obtain and maintain a PIV credential; this role may carry a higher position risk designation.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent.
• Experience in GovCloud or Azure Government.
• Experience delivering environments to federal clients for deployment in agency accounts.
