POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: HVAC Technician Trainee

REPORTS TO: Foreman

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

PAY RANGE: $20.00-$21.00 per hour DOE

FT / PT STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Customer Facilities, Shipyard(s)

SUMMARY

The HVAC Technician Trainee is an entry level, hands-on role that will support the field team while gaining practical experience in the HVAC industry. Primary tasks involve conducting condition surveys of HVAC systems and equipment, identifying areas that need attention, and making sure systems and surrounding areas are properly sealed and airtight.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform basic condition surveys and visual inspections of HVAC equipment and systems.
• Identify and document areas that may need attention.
• Check for gaps, openings, and areas that need to be sealed.
• Perform basic air-sealing and sealing work as directed.
• Take and provide basic documentation of completed work.
• Follow project instructions and safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate any issues or unusual conditions to the project supervisor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES

• Eager to learn and develop skills in the HVAC industry.
• Dependable and willing to work hard.
• Comfortable working with hand tools.
• Ability to follow directions and complete work independently once trained.
• Close attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous HVAC, construction, maintenance, or mechanical experience is not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery
