Position Overview
The Procurement Specialist supports Safe Air Technology’s purchasing and supply chain operations by ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced and delivered to meet production requirements.
This position works closely with suppliers, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Warehouse, and Project Management to maintain material availability, resolve supply issues, and support production schedules.
This is a full-time, in-office position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, process, and maintain purchase orders within the ERP system.
- Source materials and components based on production and project requirements.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order confirmations, and delivery dates.
- Track and expedite open purchase orders to ensure materials arrive according to production schedules.
- Identify potential material shortages and proactively work with suppliers and internal teams to prevent production delays.
- Resolve issues involving late shipments, quantity discrepancies, damaged materials, and incorrect orders.
- Monitor supplier performance, lead times, pricing, and delivery reliability.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, Quality, and Project Management to understand upcoming material requirements.
- Assist with obtaining quotes, comparing suppliers, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, order status information, and supplier documentation.
- Support inventory management and communicate material needs or concerns to the appropriate teams.
- Assist with new supplier set up and maintain vendor information.
- Analyze purchasing and supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, approval requirements, and quality standards.
- Perform other procurement and supply chain duties as needed to support the organization.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials, or a related role preferred.
- Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAGE, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and open orders.
- Excellent supplier communication and follow-up skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Classification
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. This role requires the consistent use of independent judgment and discretion in system design, programming, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making. As such, this position is not eligible for overtime pay.
