Description:

Setnix is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support our Machine Shop operations. The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, modifying, testing, and optimizing CNC programs used to machine and repair precision aerospace components.

This position requires strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, GD&T, engineering drawings, and machining strategies. The CNC Programmer will work closely with Machinists, Engineering, Production, and Quality to develop safe and efficient machining processes that consistently meet dimensional and quality requirements.

Requirements:

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, modify, and optimize CNC programs for machining and repair operations.
  • Create CNC programs for mills, lathes, and other CNC equipment based on machine shop capabilities.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, technical specifications, and approved repair instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Develop machining sequences, tooling requirements, work holding methods, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters.
  • Create and modify toolpaths to achieve required dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
  • Support machining and repair of aerospace components, including APU and Main Engine components.
  • Support machining of various materials and repair coatings, including chrome and metal-sprayed components.
  • Review existing CNC programs and identify opportunities to improve quality, cycle time, tooling life, and machining efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot CNC programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues.
  • Perform program proof-outs and support first-piece machining to verify program accuracy and safety.
  • Make necessary program adjustments based on dimensional inspection results and machining performance.
  • Work with CNC Operators and Machinists to ensure programs and setup instructions are clearly understood and properly executed.
  • Maintain accurate CNC program files, revisions, setup documentation, tooling information, and related records.
  • Ensure programs comply with engineering requirements, company procedures, and applicable quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within Machine Shop operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a CNC Programmer and/or advanced CNC Machinist required.
  • Strong experience programming CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling, workholding, speeds,feeds, and cutting strategies.
  • Ability to independently develop CNC programs from engineering drawings and technical requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM programming software.
  • Experience with CNC machine controls and G-code programming.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring equipment and inspection methods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex machining and programming issues.
  • Aerospace, aviation, turbine engine, or aircraft component machining experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with APU and Main Engine component repair is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Operators, Machinists, Engineering, Production, and Quality personnel.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a machine shop environment and stand for extended periods when supporting machine setups and program proof-outs.
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to safely work around CNC machinery and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
