Project Financial Analyst II

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Financial Analyst II based in Canada.

As a Project Financial Analyst II, you will provide financial and analytical support to project managers while helping maintain strong financial visibility across complex projects. You will serve as a key link between project teams, functional groups, and Finance, supporting accurate reporting and informed decision-making. The role involves project analysis, forecasting, revenue recognition, portfolio financial management, and monitoring financial performance. You will work with multiple sources of information to identify trends, assess project health, and support timely business decisions. Strong attention to detail and organization will be essential when managing sensitive financial data and competing priorities. Accountabilities:
  • Provide project-related financial and analytical support to Project Managers across multiple projects and priorities.
  • Serve as a liaison between functional teams and Finance to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Conduct in-depth project financial analysis using information from multiple sources to support decision-making.
  • Support project forecasting, portfolio financial management, and monitoring of financial performance.
  • Analyze and support revenue recognition activities, including the relationships between revenue, backlog, work in process, and invoicing.
  • Help ensure financial deliverables and project reporting are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Review sensitive and confidential financial information with a high level of accuracy and discretion.
  • Collaborate with project teams and Finance to identify financial issues, provide analysis, and support appropriate resolutions.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while prioritizing deadlines and stakeholder requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of analyst experience within a Contract Research Organization (CRO) environment.
  • Prior experience in project analysis and ASC 606 revenue recognition is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with portfolio financial management and forecasting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid financial analysis, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze complex information from multiple sources and translate findings into actionable insights that support decision-making.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deliverables effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while demonstrating initiative, motivation, and accountability.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
  • Understanding of revenue recognition principles and the relationship between revenue, backlog, work in process, and invoicing.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines established by clients, project teams, and corporate stakeholders.
