THE POSITION

As a General laborer, you must be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely. It is preferred if you have familiarity with construction industry safety standards and procedures to ensure project security. However, not required. Below are some of the tasks a General Laborer is responsible for:

• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
• Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using cement mixers.
• Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, etc.
• Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
• Provide assistance and support to skilled trade workers, such as carpenters, concrete finishers, or masons.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 80 pounds.
• Work in extreme weather conditions, including frequent heat and occasional cold, rain, etc.
• Daily punctuality and attendance.
• Be able to provide your own transportation to and from various job sites throughout the work week (majority of jobs are in Sarasota/Bradenton).
• Display a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
