The Art DSP Lead
The Pay is $21/hour
The Art Direct Support Professional (DSP) Lead plays a critical role in overseeing and guiding a
team of DSPs to ensure participants receive high-quality care and services. This position
implements a one-of-a-kind curriculum and creative activities that promote self-expression, skill
development, independence, and community inclusion in a safe and respectful environment. The
Art DSP lead also serves as a key support to the Site Manager, stepping in as needed to assist
both staff and participants.

The Art Direct Support Professional (DSP) Lead plays a critical role in overseeing and guiding a
team of DSPs to ensure participants receive high-quality care and services. This position
implements a one-of-a-kind curriculum and creative activities that promote self-expression, skill
development, independence, and community inclusion in a safe and respectful environment. The
Art DSP lead also serves as a key support to the Site Manager, stepping in as needed to assist
both staff and participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with Therap review as needed
- Run our morning participant meetings
- Implement outlined art curriculum and creative projects that support participant growth, self-expression, and skill development
- Provide direction to DSPs during downtime by providing appropriate filler activities that promote engagement and growth
- Ensure that proper hygiene and toileting protocols are followed by DSPs and that participants needs are met with dignity and care
- Be prepared to assist with emergency procedures and manage behavioral crisis according to Dutton Farms policies and procedures
- Assist site manager by ensuring all supplies are stocked and in good condition
- Follow and ensure that all DSPs adhere to the Chain of Command policy to maintain effective and organized communication
- Step in as site manager for ratio and attendance processes
- Step in as site manager to oversee the Community Involvement (CI) schedule and provide guidance to CI DSPs
- Oversee and ensure that medication administration is carried out accurately and according to protocol
- In absence of the site manager, conduct participant rounds to monitor and support daily activities
- Assist the manager in ensuring that the DSPs follow the daily checklist, keeping group on track with scheduled activities
- Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with both participants and staff
- Help maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere and assist the manager with concerns
- Foster an engaging and inclusive environment that encourages active participation and social interaction among participants
- Safely transport participants in a Dutton Farm vehicle between sites and throughout the community
- Adapt art activities to accommodate varying abilities and support needs.
- Assist with other related duties as requested
- Must embrace the mission and values of Dutton Farm
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week
- Must obtain and maintain required trainings
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license with satisfactory driving record and be willing to obtain a chauffeurs license
- Must be willing to transport participants to and from Community Center in Pontiac to Dutton Farm in Rochester, MI.
- Passion for art, creativity, community inclusion, and engaging opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Have experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a care environment
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergencies or crisis situations
- Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to accomplish necessary tasks related to the program
- Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
- Knowledge of proper hygiene, toileting and medication administration protocols
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suit
