Class A CDL Tanker Driver

Location: Hope, Arkansas / Nashville, Arkansas
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly

About the Role

The Class A CDL Tanker Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting materials throughout the assigned service area. This position requires a valid tanker endorsement, tanker-driving experience, end-dump experience, and the ability to operate a manual-transmission commercial vehicle.

The driver must comply with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Responsibilities include protecting the integrity of each load, completing accurate documentation, and conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

This position requires schedule flexibility, including the ability to work weekends when operationally necessary.

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires sound judgment, alertness, and diligence. Employees are responsible for their own safety and the safety of those around them.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Tanker endorsement required.
  • Previous tanker-driving experience required.
  • Previous experience operating end-dump trailers or similar equipment.
  • Ability to operate a standard/manual-transmission commercial vehicle.
  • Must be self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state that issued the CDL.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record and Pre-Employment Screening Program record.
  • Must be at least 23 years old with a minimum of two years of full-time, verifiable tractor-trailer experience; or
  • Must be at least 21 years old with one year of tractor-trailer experience if the applicant graduated from an accredited truck-driving school or has one year of qualifying military driving experience.
  • Stable and verifiable employment history.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends when needed.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to satisfy all applicable DOT and company qualification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience transporting liquid or bulk materials in tanker equipment.
  • Experience operating end-dump trailers.
  • Familiarity with regional and interstate routes.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices and transportation-management systems.
  • Customer-service experience in a transportation, delivery, or logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate tanker trucks and end-dump equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and all applicable laws.
  • Operate manual- and automatic-transmission commercial vehicles.
  • Transport materials throughout Hope, Nashville, and other assigned service areas.
  • Safely load, transport, and unload materials using tanker and end-dump equipment.
  • Conduct complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Promptly report mechanical, equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns.
  • Use hand tools to perform minor repairs on company bins and equipment when necessary.
  • Maintain basic truck equipment and keep assigned vehicles and equipment clean.
  • Use an electronic logging system to accurately record hours of service and other required information.
  • Complete and submit service tickets, contamination reports, maintenance records, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, dispatchers, and operations personnel.
  • Notify the corporate office or operations team of service, equipment, scheduling, or customer-related concerns.
  • Immediately report all accidents, injuries, spills, and safety incidents.
  • Work flexible hours based on operational demands and seasonality, including weekends when needed.
  • Work up to 60 hours during a seven-day period or 70 hours during an eight-day period, as permitted by DOT regulations.
  • Attend and participate in required safety calls, training sessions, and operational briefings.
  • Use a computer or mobile device for communication, training, navigation, documentation, and expense management.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift, pull, push, or carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Regularly bend, stoop, twist, shovel, climb, and reach overhead.
  • Pull or roll loads weighing up to 300 pounds when working with totes.
  • Safely enter and exit commercial vehicles and access tanker, trailer, and related equipment.
  • Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Work safely around food waste, farms, and environments that may contain unpleasant odors.
Required Skills
  • Strong commercial driving and vehicle-handling abilities.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and tanker safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of safe end-dump operating procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate a manual-transmission commercial vehicle.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and completing documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable time-management and route-planning abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to changing schedules or operating conditions.
  • Basic proficiency with electronic logging devices, computers, and mobile phones.
