Job Description
Position Title: Stock Worker
Reports To: Store Manager / Asst. Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: Thirty (30) plus hours per week. Flexible to needs of Whites Lumber, Inc.
General Summary:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Check all incoming merchandise against invoices or orders to spot shortages. damages, backorders, etc. Report any discrepancies to Store Manager
- Stock shelves daily.
- Adhere to all Safety Policies.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Keep warehouse, storage and check-in areas neat, clean, and orderly.
- Insures all products received at the store are accounted for in computer system by the end of the day.
- Insure products received are not damage by inspecting packaging.
- Insure all products received are stocked in designated store locations.
- Handle heavy and bulky merchandise for customers as requested/needed.
- Advise Store Manager of shortages, damaged merchandise, and backorders.
- Advise Purchasing Manager of any delivery problems or discrepancies.
- Insures inter-branch transfer shipments and receipts are within same parameters as vendor shipments received.
- When requested, help dispose of damaged goods.
- As directed, perform general clean up duties, run errands, and miscellaneous chores.
- Price incoming merchandise accurately.
- As directed by supervisor, set up displays.
- Prepare packages for mailing.
- Deliver sold items or pick up return items as directed.
- Check invoices.
- Handle special orders for non-stock.
- Maintain up to date receiving file.
- As requested, assist on sales floor.
- Store Stock away in warehouse neatly and safely.
- Assist other personnel or fill in on an as needed basis.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Wait on customers, prepare sales tickets.
- Attend Safety and Product training sessions.
- Answer telephones as needed.
- Greet and watch for customers who may need assistance.
- Notify Manager of pricing errors.
- Notify Supervisor immediately of any safety concerns.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Generally indoors, occasionally will have to work outdoors thereby subjected to the various elements of the particular season.
