Position Description:
Little Island seeks a Senior Facilities Technician to join the Park Operations department, supporting the day-to-day caretaking and maintenance of the entire park facility. The Senior Facilities Technician is responsible for executing elements of a varied and complex maintenance program ensuring the park, performance spaces and private work areas are safe, functional and welcoming for all. Working collaboratively with a team of technicians, the Senior Facilities Technician promotes a culture of safety, operational excellence, and cross-departmental collaboration while maintaining all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and irrigation systems and ensuring the park’s infrastructure remains functional, disruptions are quickly addressed and downtime is minimized. The Senior Facilities Technician applies broad maintenance expertise to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and improve Little Island’s unique infrastructure and building systems.

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Senior Facilities Technician serves as the technical leader, providing hands-on training, mentorship, and professional development for other technicians within the department. Together, the team protects the park's assets, extends the lifespan of systems and equipment, and ensures that Little Island consistently reflects the organization's standards for hospitality, accessibility, and an exceptional visitor experience.

About the Role
Hourly Rate: Starting at $39.00/hour based on technical skill and experience
Job Type: Year-Round
Employment Classification: Full-Time, Non-exempt
Schedule Expectations: 5 days a week (Monday-Friday in winter months, Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday in summer months) with flexibility for evenings and holidays
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Work Environment: Onsite field-based position

Role Responsibilities
Facilities Caretaking & Maintenance
• Perform and plan preventive maintenance on park facilities, infrastructure, equipment, furniture, fixtures, food and beverage equipment and appliances and park systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, and related mechanical systems.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair facility and park systems, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, irrigation and building systems issues, responding to maintenance concerns, and supporting emergency repairs to ensure safe and reliable operations, recommending long-term corrective actions as needed.
• Evaluate equipment failures and identify solutions to improve system reliability and preventative maintenance practices.
• Collaborate with facilities team and other relevant departments to maintain a proper inventory of maintenance related supplies, materials, and equipment.

Work Order Management & Vendor Support
• Follow through on daily work orders, assigning projects to technicians as required, and communicating progress via regular reporting to the Facilities Supervisor or in a online work order system.
• Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, troubleshooting efforts, and technical observations to support institutional knowledge and continuous improvement of maintenance manuals and procedures.
• Work with Facilities Supervisor and Senior Director of Park Operations to evaluate when work can be completed in-house and recommend when specialized contractors or licensed trades should be engaged.
• Support on site work of external contractors and specialized service providers to ensure quality, timely and safe completion of repairs and maintenance projects.

Safety & Seasonal Maintenance
• Participate in seasonal maintenance activities including:
  • Water system start-up and winterization
  • Snow and ice removal using a snow shovel, electric snow broom or snowplow
  • Use and care of mechanized equipment
• Contribute to facility team’s support of event and production operations including set-up and break-down of furniture and equipment, power distribution, and water access.
• Participate in organization-wide safety training and initiatives, leading trainings as needed.
• Demonstrate a commitment to hospitality by providing positive customer service to park visitors when answering questions and conveying park information.
• Perform other duties as required in the scope of the job and as designated by the Facilities Supervisor or other Senior staff.

What You Bring
• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, and building system issues. Experience across multiple trades is preferred
• Relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems are strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of maintenance best practices, safety protocols, and compliance, with demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
• Excellent attention to details and troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making skills, with a self-directed, proactive approach to work.
• Experience using Upkeep or similar work order/project tracking software and proficiency with basic computer applications including email applications.
• Ability to mentor and support team members through knowledge sharing, on-the-job training, and collaborative problem solving.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, while collaborating cross-departmentally.
• Ability to transport park equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as set-up and breakdown materials and equipment into various positions within the park and storage facilities.
• Comfort working outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions (light rain, summer heat, direct sunlight).
• Possession of OSHA 10 or 30, Fall/Arrest training, or other relevant certifications a plus
• Eligibility to work in the U.S.
