The Technical Service & Development Engineer will provide technical leadership and customer-focused support by delivering application solutions, managing technical projects, and ensuring successful implementation of polymer materials across customer applications.
- Provide technical support to customers by addressing product inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and delivering effective material and application solutions.
- Lead customer discussions related to material selection, product performance, processing conditions, and application requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute material trials, validations, and qualification activities to ensure application success.
- Recommend appropriate polymer grades based on technical requirements, performance expectations, and end-use conditions.
- Investigate processing challenges, quality concerns, and product performance issues through root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and value improvement by proposing alternative material solutions.
- Coordinate testing and validation activities with internal and external laboratories to meet customer and industry standards.
- Analyze test results, prepare technical reports, and communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support new product development, localization initiatives, and customer-specific technical projects.
- Maintain technical databases, including material specifications, performance information, and approval documentation.
- Support compliance activities, certifications, regulatory documentation, and customer requirements.
- Manage technical communication between customers, sales teams, research teams, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions.
- Capture technical learnings and share best practices to improve knowledge management and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of polymer materials, experience in customer-facing engineering roles, and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field (B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent qualification).
- CIPET graduates with relevant technical experience are also considered.
- 3–5 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role within polymers, plastics, specialty materials, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of polymer processing, application development, troubleshooting techniques, and material performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with engineering thermoplastics and elastomers such as PC/ABS, ABS, PMMA, TPEs, and TPUs.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry, material characterization methods, structure-property relationships, and polymer physics.
- Experience supporting customer trials, material validations, and technical qualification processes is preferred.
- Ability to analyze technical data, prepare reports, and present findings clearly to different audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to convert customer requirements into technical recommendations.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong stakeholder management and influencing abilities.
- Experience in automotive, engineering plastics, polymer compounding, specialty materials, or manufacturing industries is an advantage.
- Familiarity with OEM approval processes, compliance requirements, and customer qualification programs is preferred.
