As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in accurate and timely laboratory testing that supports the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions. You will operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory instrumentation, analyze and verify test results, adhere to quality assurance and regulatory standards, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

A typical day for a Medical Technologist may include:
- Perform routine, complex, and specialized laboratory testing in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, coagulation, and urinalysis.
- Analyze, interpret, verify, and report accurate laboratory test results in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform and document quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Review specimen integrity and determine acceptability for testing; identify and resolve specimen-related issues.
- Follow established laboratory safety protocols, infection prevention practices, and regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, and other applicable standards.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to accurately enter, review, verify, and report patient test results.
- Maintain accurate documentation of testing, instrument maintenance, quality control activities, and corrective actions.
- Communicate critical values and significant laboratory findings promptly to physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Assist with troubleshooting technical issues and report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor while initiating service requests as appropriate.
- Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables to support uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Review patient and specimen information to ensure proper identification and testing requirements are met.
- Apply scientific knowledge, critical thinking, and professional judgment to evaluate test results and recognize abnormal or unexpected findings.
- Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory leadership, and multidisciplinary care teams to support timely and accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Participate in training, competency assessments, process improvement initiatives, and continuing education to support high-quality laboratory services.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment while supporting exceptional patient care through accurate and timely diagnostic testing.

To be considered for this Medical Technologist opportunity, you must:
- Have a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution,
- 1 year experience working in a hospital setting laboratory preferred
- Blood Bank Experience preferred
- ASCP Certification preferred
