Position Title: MEDICAL LAB TECHNOLOGIST

Position Summary: The Medical Technologist is responsible for upholding the mission, vision and values of Conway Medical Center in all interactions with staff, peers, colleagues, leadership and patients. The Medical Technologist will perform related duties in the laboratory to include storing and labeling specimens and using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests. The Medical Technologist is responsible for maintaining and meeting regulatory requirements in all aspects of the testing environment. Qualifications: Education:

• High School Diploma required.
• MLS/MT through one of three ways required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or;
  • Bachelor of Science degree, with completion of Board Certification as MT or;
  • MLT degree with completion of qualified Board Certification as a MT.

Experience

• Experience with patient contact preferred.
• Previous experience with Laboratory/Hospital computer system preferred.
• Prior experience as a MT in a hospital-based lab setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Board Certification Required (ASCP certification preferred).

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
• Perform related duties in laboratory to include processing, labeling, testing, and storing of specimens.
• Using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests.
• Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains, following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
• Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on testing equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory supplies via inventory management.
• Assist in training of all new hires.
• Comply with all regulatory requirements.
• Complete all duties assigned by laboratory management.
• Effective communication with laboratory management, nursing, physician, and staff members.
• Required to follow procedures that follow the standard required by CAP for certification.
• Have flexibility with scheduled work hour requirements.
• Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
