Job Description

LiCAP Technologies is a Sacramento-based battery materials company commercializing the Activated Dry Electrode® (ADE®) process — a solvent-free manufacturing technology that cuts battery production costs, energy use, and carbon emissions by up to 70%. Named a Fast Company Top 10 Most Innovative Company in Automotive (2026), LiCAP is scaling a 500 MWh/year cathode production line at its new facility and supplying leading automotive OEMs. We're a ~45-person team at a pivotal growth stage, backed by major grant funding and commercial contracts. If you want your work to matter for the energy transition, this is where to be.

About the role

LiCAP Technologies is hiring a hands-on Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting and the monthly close, reporting to the Director of Finance. You will run AP, AR, fixed assets and close, and grow into grant accounting on state and federal awards that fund our manufacturing scale-up.

LiCAP is a Sacramento-based advanced battery electrode manufacturer of about 45 people. Our patented Activated Dry Electrode® (ADE®) process makes electrodes for ultracapacitors and batteries without toxic solvents. We are a small finance team in a fast-growing manufacturing company, so this role has real ownership and visibility to leadership.

This is an in-office position.

What you'll do

• Accounts payable: Own full-cycle AP — vendor setup, invoice coding and approval routing, 3-way match against POs and receipts, payment runs, 1099s.

• Accounts receivable: Invoice customers, apply cash, manage collections and aging, and reconcile customer deposits.

• Month-end close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids and bank, credit card and balance-sheet reconciliations; deliver a clean close on a set calendar.

• Fixed assets: Maintain the fixed asset register and book and tax depreciation schedules; track construction-in-progress for new production equipment and place assets in service.

• Inventory and cost support: Help reconcile inventory and support standard costing and COGS for a manufacturing operation.

• Grant accounting (we will train you): Track grant-funded costs by project, prepare reimbursement invoices and backup, support match tracking, and help with grant audits and reporting.

• Payroll and audit support: Reconcile payroll and benefits to the GL; prepare schedules for the annual audit, tax filings and lender or investor requests.

• Systems: Help improve processes and controls as we modernize our accounting and HR systems.

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

• 3–6 years of hands-on accounting experience, including owning month-end close.

• Full-cycle AP and AR experience in a company that ships physical product or invoices on contracts.

• Working knowledge of GAAP, accruals and fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules.

• Strong Excel skills: lookups, pivot tables and building reconciliations from scratch.

• Detail-oriented and organized; comfortable meeting deadlines in a small team where you wear several hats.

• Interest in learning grant accounting and cost tracking for government awards.

Nice to have

• Manufacturing accounting experience: inventory, standard costing, WIP or capital equipment.

• Intuit Enterprise Suite or QuickBooks Online Advanced experience.

• Rippling (payroll, HR or spend management) experience.

• Exposure to government grants or contracts (state energy grants, SBIR, DOE) and federal cost principles (2 CFR 200).

Compensation and details

• Salary: $90,000–$100,000 per year, based on experience. Full-time, exempt.

• Benefits: Medical, dental and vision; 401(k); paid time off and holidays.

• Location: On-site in Sacramento, CA.

• Reports to: Director of Finance.

LiCAP Technologies is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected status.
