Network Engineer in Sterling, Virginia at Insight Xcite

Insight Xcite is recruiting for distinct network engineering requirements in Herndon and Sterling. Experience and education requirements vary by track. Candidates should identify the track that matches their hands-on experience.

Expert roles require at least 11 years of relevant network engineering experience and firewall engineering involving Cisco, Palo Alto, and NetScaler. SME roles require at least 16 years and expertise with Cisco, Palo Alto, and Juniper firewall solutions. Work includes firewall policies, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, threat monitoring, and translating customer requirements into enterprise solutions. Degrees are preferred for these tracks. Cloud/hybrid networking, management platforms such as Cisco FTD and Palo Alto Panorama, and relevant certifications are preferred.

Expert roles require at least 11 years; SME roles require at least 16 years. Required experience includes commercial cloud VPCs with Linux VMs used as network appliances, Linux and network-device hardening, firewalls/switches/routers/IPS, commercial VPNs, commercial messaging applications, and Android devices. After-hours and weekend call-in support is part of the requirement. Bachelor's or Master's degrees are preferred.

Required: at least 6 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree; TCP/IP network design, routing protocols, advanced virtual networking, network upgrades/O&M, INFOSEC/COMSEC, configuration management, troubleshooting LAN/WAN/VPN/SD-WAN/VoIP, and Cisco IOS switching and routing. Cloud, virtualization, SecDevOps, and Cisco certifications are preferred.

Additional surge needs seek either VERSA SD-WAN experience or strong SNMP expertise for integration, configuration, and design of network monitoring/GNOC tools. Scope, duration, and customer qualification requirements will be confirmed for the specific surge assignment.
