Job Smmary

The Insurance Authorization Specialist is a critical role within our clinic's operations. This position manages insurance verification, prior authorization, and billing coordination to ensure patients can access therapy without delays. It requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex insurance processes across multiple payers.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage for new patients: eligibility, benefits, coverage limitations, copayments, deductibles, and payer-specific requirements.

• Obtain prior authorizations and re-authorizations for physical therapy services; collaborate with providers to gather documentation and submit requests within required timeframes.

• Monitor and track authorization status to ensure timely approvals and uninterrupted patient care.

• Coordinate with the billing department to support accurate claims processing, including submitting treatment plans, authorization details, and insurance documentation.

• Educate patients and their families on their insurance benefits, financial responsibilities, and coverage details.

• Maintain detailed records of verifications, authorizations, and communications in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

• Collaborate with therapists, providers, and clinic staff to ensure seamless coordination of care and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration preferred.

• Proven experience in insurance verification and prior authorization, preferably in a healthcare or physical therapy setting.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems, including CPT and ICD-10.

• Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to build rapport with patients and insurance representatives.

• Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

• Minimum typing speed of 45 WPM; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and standard office software.

• Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving approach and a strong customer service focus.

The pay range for this role is:
17 - 18 USD per hour(SRPT - Weatherford)
