Job Title: Assistant Manager
Reports To: Store Manager
Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager supports the store manager in managing the store’s operations, including staff supervision, inventory management, customer service, sales, and maintaining store cleanliness. They ensure the store runs efficiently, profitability is achieved, and all policies and procedures are followed.
Key Responsibilities:
Store Operations:
- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the convenience store.
- Ensure all processes run smoothly, including stocking, sales transactions, and cleanliness.
- Open and close the store as needed.
- Manage cash handling procedures, including cash registers and safe deposits.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, restocking shelves as necessary.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, addressing concerns, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience.
- Train staff to deliver superior customer service and resolve customer complaints promptly.
Staff Supervision:
- Supervise, train, and support store associates to ensure they meet performance expectations.
- Assist with scheduling shifts and assigning tasks.
- Provide employee performance feedback to store manager.
Sales and Profitability:
- Assist in achieving sales targets and store financial goals.
- Participate in promotional activities and marketing initiatives to boost sales.
- Monitor sales trends and suggest strategies for improvement.
Inventory and Stock Control:
- Assist with ordering and managing stock, including ensuring that merchandise is well-maintained and properly displayed.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor the store’s adherence to company policies, including those related to cash handling, loss prevention, and security.
Store Maintenance:
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the store, ensuring that it meets safety and hygiene standards.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the store manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- No minimum education required.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- The job requires the ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing; the ability to hear and understand speech and other sounds; and the ability to use eyesight to complete tasks.
- Customer-oriented attitude and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Basic knowledge of store operations, inventory management, and cash handling.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to frequently stand/walk for long periods, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., and perform tasks that involve bending and reaching.
- Ability to occasionally, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull (carts, dollies, sweeping/mopping), bend/stoop/crouch, reach above shoulder level, climb on ladders/stools to reach high shelves/surfaces.
- Work is performed in a store setting with fluctuation temperatures (kitchen, cooler, freezer, indoors, outdoors) and near other team members and guests.
