Operations Manager, Repairs in Memphis, Tennessee at Habitat for Humanity of G

The Repairs Operations Manager oversees home assessments and inspections and confirms that subcontractor work is completed, inspected, and approved. The Repairs Operations Manager will also perform property site inspections, initiate and manage subcontractor work, and conduct final inspections for Aging in Place.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Ensure that both home assessments and inspections within a project proceed as planned and are conducted in accordance with requirements, standards, and regulations.

• Identify and document structural deficiencies/findings during assessment, mid-project, and inspection. Ability to work with co-workers and subcontractors to solve problems.

• Create work orders and tool kits based on inspections.

• Accurate and timely documentation and email responses.

• Confirm that subcontractor work is completed, inspected, and approved.

• Discuss deficiencies with subcontractors and work to ensure needed corrections are made.

• Verify that the work performed will be approved by the local authority’s building control department or an approved inspector.

• Communicate effectively and create an environment for a successful experience with homeowners, donors, and subcontractors.

• Manage projects, staff, and time to ensure funding deadlines are met.

• Ability to multitask and successfully meet rolling deadlines.

• Evaluate and implement good safety practices and consistently stress the same with contractors and other staff.

Required Education & Work Experience

• 5 years’ experience in construction/contracting or other related experience

• A plus is that the candidate has experience as a home inspector.

• High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Sheets

• Preferred Experience:

  • Nonprofit and/or Habitat for Humanity

  • Construction Management experience

  • Knowledge of Database entry (i.e., SalesForce)

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervising trainees, volunteers, and subcontractors may be called upon.

Work Environment

This position usually operates in both construction and administrative settings. This role routinely uses construction-related tools and standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee will be required to reach with their hands and arms. The employee will occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The workdays and hours are Monday through Friday, depending on the business's needs. As job duties demand, evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.

Required Education and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in construction/contracting or related experience

• Home Inspection experience a plus

• High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma

• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience

• Nonprofit and/or Habitat for Humanity

• Construction Management experience

• Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

• Database entry, i.e., Salesforce

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Able to meet employment verification requirements and pass pre-employment background and drug and sex offender registry checks. Has a valid driver’s license and can pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
