Job Description

GPU Thermal Management Design Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GPU Thermal Management Design Engineer based in Canada.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of next-generation high-performance discrete GPU platforms, focusing on advanced thermal and acoustic optimization across cutting-edge hardware systems. You will be part of a specialized engineering team responsible for ensuring thermal stability, performance efficiency, and system reliability across GPU cards and platform-level architectures. The position involves designing, simulating, and validating thermal management strategies that directly impact product performance and scalability in high-volume production environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including firmware, hardware, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of thermal solutions. This is a highly technical and innovation-driven role where your expertise will help shape industry-leading cooling and fan control technologies. You will also engage with external partners and customers to support platform design requirements and ensure real-world performance alignment. The environment is global, fast-paced, and focused on pushing the boundaries of GPU thermal engineering.

Accountabilities:
  • Architect, simulate, and validate thermal management systems and fan control strategies for high-performance discrete GPU products.
  • Design and optimize thermal solutions at both component and system levels for GPU cards and computing platforms.
  • Influence cross-functional teams (firmware, software, hardware, and driver engineering) to ensure thermal and acoustic performance requirements are met.
  • Develop and refine thermal management architectures, ensuring effective integration across mechanical, electrical, and system-level designs.
  • Conduct thermal analysis, debugging, and validation to ensure product reliability and performance under varying workloads.
  • Collaborate with system engineering, program management, and external partners (OEM/ODM) to support design execution and product delivery.
  • Document technical findings, simulation results, and design recommendations for internal stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Stay current with industry advancements in thermal technologies and explore innovative cooling solutions for next-generation products.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics applied to engineering systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal analysis, debugging, and performance validation.
  • Strong understanding of heat sink design and thermal mechanical solutions in high-performance computing or PC environments.
  • Experience testing air-cooled and/or liquid-cooled thermal systems for electronic devices.
  • Familiarity with trade-offs between thermal performance and mechanical, electrical, or system constraints.
  • Hands-on experience with thermal simulation tools such as Icepak, Flotherm, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with GPU, PCIe, OAM, or server/desktop hardware form factors is an asset.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling tools such as Creo, ProE, or SolidWorks is considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present technical concepts.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across global, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Interest in innovation, thermal optimization, and end-to-end system ownership.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary: CAD $109,380 – $154,420, depending on experience
  • Fully remote work model within Canada with occasional on-site collaboration as needed
  • Opportunity to work on next-generation GPU and high-performance computing technologies
  • Exposure to advanced thermal engineering, simulation, and system design tools
  • Collaboration with global engineering teams across hardware, software, and system disciplines
  • Strong focus on innovation, technical ownership, and career development
  • Inclusive and accessible work environment with accommodation support available
  • Opportunity to contribute to industry-leading GPU platform technologies.
