Director of Accounting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Accounting based in United States.

This leadership role sits at the core of a fast-scaling finance organization, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and strategic value of all accounting operations.
You will oversee end-to-end accounting activities, including close processes, financial reporting, revenue recognition, and compliance across global operations.
The position plays a critical role in shaping financial discipline and supporting executive decision-making through reliable reporting and actionable insights.
You will lead and develop a high-performing accounting team while driving process improvements, automation, and scalability across financial systems.
A strong emphasis is placed on technical accounting expertise, particularly GAAP and ASC 606, within a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who combines operational excellence with strategic financial thinking.

Accountabilities:
  • Oversee all core accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with GAAP, SOX requirements, and all relevant financial regulations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights on key business metrics and trends to leadership.
  • Own the revenue recognition process in compliance with ASC 606, including contract review and collaboration with sales and legal teams.
  • Manage audit and tax processes, including coordination with external auditors and internal audit support.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process automation and efficiency initiatives.
  • Support the evolution of financial systems and processes in preparation for future organizational scaling and controllership responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities in a complex organization.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with deep knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is required.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing audits, SOX compliance, and financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to drive process improvements, automation, and scalable financial operations.
