Job Description
As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for nurturing and maintaining relationships with our organization's most important clients. Your primary objective will be to ensure client satisfaction, retention, and growth by understanding their needs and aligning our products or services to meet those needs. You will serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, coordinating with various internal teams to deliver exceptional service and support.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients. Develop a deep understanding of their business objectives, challenges, and opportunities. Serve as a liaison between internal MPE Team Members and customers, facilitating effective communication while gaining insights into our production capabilities, processes, and challenges to better meet our customer needs. Responsible for timely, professional and effective communication, both orally and in writing within MPE to our customers.
- Account Planning: Careful planning and consideration of specific actions to achieve desired customer outcomes, objectives, strategies, and tactics for growth and retention. Regularly review and adjust SIOP forecasts based on client feedback and changing business needs.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with internal teams such as sales, marketing, product development, operations, and customer support to ensure seamless delivery of products or services to key clients. Serve as the liaison between clients and internal teams, facilitating communication and resolving issues.
- Client Advocacy: Act as the voice of the client within the organization. Advocate for client needs and priorities, ensuring that they are appropriately addressed and prioritized in internal discussions and decision-making processes.
- Upselling and Cross-selling: Identify opportunities to expand the range of products or services offered to key clients. Work closely with the Business Development team to upsell and cross-sell additional offerings, maximizing revenue and profitability. Deliver presentations and/or offer technical and engineering consultations to customers. Understand our competitors to leverage our strengths in the marketplace or improve our weaknesses.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor key account performance metrics such as revenue growth, customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, margin preservation, and retention rates. Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Sets goals to achieve in the areas of improvement.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks that may impact client satisfaction or retention. Anticipate potential issues and develop contingency plans to address them effectively.
- Other Administrative Duties:
- Maintain and share customer information to MPE including customer personnel, customer visits, updates for ongoing and future projects and other relevant information that may be used for forecasting and business development.
- Responsible for reviewing and verifying contracts and orders to the latest documentation and entering customer orders into the manufacturing ERP system.
- Responsible for following up on forecasts and schedules with our customers and internally to ensure on-time delivery of orders. Proactively work within the organization and customers to foresee and resolve issues prior to missing committed ship dates.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications: (M=minimum, P=preferred)
Education
Bachelors degree in business administration, Engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.
Experience and/or Training
- Proven experience in key account management, sales, or customer relationship management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with clients at all levels.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving client satisfaction and business growth.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to travel as needed. Up to 50% travel may be required.
