Job Description
Summary: This position is responsible for ministering to the spiritual needs of patients and their families, facilitating support groups, making regular patient rounds, answering codes, and responding to death. This position provides counseling for staff and makes available expertise to the community.
Education: College degree as required by the seminary. Seminary degree from an accredited theological school.
Licensure: Current ecclesiastical endorsement by Catholic Bishop of Providence.
Experience: Ordination, three years of parish experience required or experience as a missionary.
Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of many faith groups and especially of the Christian denominations and their diversity of worship and ministry.
• Knowledge of professional standards and ethics in working with people.
• Knowledge of state and federal law's dealing with confidentiality and privilege.
• Ability to recognize the limits of one’s skills, capabilities, and expertise in one’s own particular profession and the appropriateness of a referral to another discipline.
• Skills in organization and priority setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines.
• Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of patients and family members.
• Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers
• Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
