This role is focused on helping clients optimize, configure, and improve their HRIS and payroll systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across complex workforce environments. You will act as a trusted consultant, working directly with clients to assess existing payroll and HR workflows and translate operational needs into well-structured system configurations. The position blends payroll expertise with hands-on systems knowledge, supporting platforms such as Workday, ADP, Paycor, Paylocity, and UKG. You will contribute across system implementations, optimizations, and ongoing support, helping organizations modernize and stabilize their payroll operations. The environment is highly client-facing, flexible, and project-based, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving, autonomy, and practical impact. This is an ideal role for a systems-oriented payroll professional who enjoys both technical configuration and advisory work.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on HRIS and payroll system optimization, helping identify inefficiencies and implement improved workflows and configurations.
- Configure, enhance, and support payroll and HR platforms such as Workday, ADP, Paycor, Paylocity, UKG, and similar systems.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, migrations, and transitions from legacy systems or PEO environments, including testing and go-live activities.
- Analyze and validate payroll configurations including earnings, deductions, tax structures, and reporting logic to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot payroll and system issues, working closely with clients to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
- Deliver client training, documentation, and guidance to improve system adoption and enable long-term self-sufficiency.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to improve payroll processes, enhance system performance, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll and HR operations.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paycor, Paylocity, UKG, Ceridian, or similar platforms.
- Experience in system configuration, implementation, optimization, or migration projects.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Client-facing or consulting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with complex payroll environments (multi-state, multi-entity, union, or job costing) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical system concepts in clear business terms.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, consulting-based environment.
