We are seeking a CPA-licensed Senior Accountant to take ownership of complex areas of CoinFlip’s cryptocurrency accounting function across domestic and international operations. This role requires strong technical accounting judgment and the ability to independently manage digital asset reconciliations, revenue accounting, intercompany eliminations, and financial close processes. The Senior Accountant (CPA) will lead audit support efforts, apply international accounting standards to foreign business units, and serve as a subject matter resource for junior staff. CoinFlip operates as a licensed money services business, and this role supports compliance with related financial reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

Crypto Accounting & Digital Asset Management

  • Prepare and maintain monthly rollforwards for BTC, ETH, LTC, and other supported digital assets.
  • Reconcile wallet balances to blockchain data and internal subledgers.
  • Perform wallet data cleanup, validation, and exception resolution.
  • Perform fair market value (FMV) calculations and remeasurements for digital asset holdings.
  • Support position checks and proof-of-reserves style reconciliations.
  • Record and reconcile hardware wallet activity, including Trezor and cold storage.
  • Process and account for crypto donations, rewards, and incentives.
  • Own accounting and reconciliation of international digital asset activity.

Revenue, Cost & Operational Accounting

  • Calculate kiosk cost of sales (COS), fees, and related margin analysis.
  • Analyze transaction fees, spreads, and service-level profitability.
  • Reconcile liquidity provider balances, fees, and settlements.
  • Analyze and document revenue recognition for new business lines under ASC 606.
  • Lead transfer pricing calculations and intercompany crypto activity.
  • Design and implement intercompany due to/due from accounting schedules for reconciliation and elimination.
  • Learn and apply relevant international accounting rules for foreign business units.
  • Collaborate with international operations teams to implement accounting and finance practices in new markets.
  • Coordinate with international CPAs to complete month-end close for foreign entities.

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries; lead or support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Lead flux analysis and variance explanations for management review.
  • Obtain and analyze data from multiple sources to develop schedules used as support documents for month-end close.
  • Prepare financial reporting schedules and audit support packages for internal and external auditors.
  • Assist the Financial Reporting Manager in preparation of financial statements and other internal reporting.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Identify automation and efficiency opportunities across accounting workflows.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and process documentation for accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Utilize data visualization and business intelligence tools to improve process efficiency.
  • Support system implementations, enhancements, and testing (including NetSuite).
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff and cross-functional teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • CPA licensed (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3+ years of industry or public accounting experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain (required).
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of NetSuite or comparable ERP.
  • Experience with or strong interest in data/BI tools such as Tableau or Alteryx.
  • Strong command of GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and international accounting standards.
  • Intellectually curious with a demonstrated ability to improve and implement processes.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, or similar data tools.
  • Background in MSB, fintech, or regulated financial services environments.
  • Familiarity with state regulatory examination response processes or multi-jurisdictional reporting.
  • Experience supporting external audits under international frameworks (e.g., Corporations Act / ASIC obligations).
  • General passion for fintech and the cryptocurrency industry.

Compensation:

Annual Base Salary: $24,000-$40,000 USD
