Essential Responsibilities
- Quality Educational Programming
- Participate in meetings on an as needed basis.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals providing services.
- Implement individual support/interventions for students.
- Be responsive and accept feedback, supervision, and consultation.
- Maintain flexibility and creativity in a high demand work situation.
- Effectively apply on-going training information.
- Support students in an assigned location (hallway, intervention space, etc.).
- Exemplify the values of the program service model.
- Maintain professional boundaries with students and other professionals.
- Follow rules/guidelines of professional/ethical conduct.
- Independently seek out resources and learning opportunities to foster professional growth.
- Obtain/Maintain professional certification as required.
- Participate in all regularly scheduled in-service programs.
- With the approval of the Program/Education Director, periodically serve on program committees.
- Comply with organization’s standards.
- Communication
- Utilize appropriate communication channels, verbal and written, within the district, classrooms/ schools, and with those we serve.
- Documentation
- Turn in all required paperwork and documentation within the timeframes specified by the program.
- Document any TCI approved physical interventions.
- Document face to face contact with students.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain schedule to accommodate the needs of students.
- Complete time sheets.
- Supervision
- Receives supervision.
- Receives supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
- Receives supervision.
- Leadership
- Share pertinent information appropriate to building staff.
- Actively participate in supervision.
- Dress and conduct self in an appropriate culturally sensitive manner.
- Directly always supervise students.
- With the approval of the Program/Education Director, provide in-service training to Pressley Ridge programs.
- Professional Development
- With the approval of the Program/Education Director, periodically attend local, state, or national conferences and workshops.
- Risk Management and Safety
- Report any safety risks to any member of the management team.
- When transporting students, maintain safe driving procedures.
- Assist other staff, as needed, in interventions (TCI, Ukeru) to protect students and staff from injury.
- Detect and remediate, with approval of Coordinator, if necessary, any potentially dangerous environmental conditions.
- Follow program-designated procedures for all physical contact with students.
- Follow program-designated procedures for student illness and injury, including arranging necessary medical care - - (with approval of Coordinator or Program/Education Director) - - informing appropriate persons of the situation, and documenting the injury/illness and actions taken.
Qualifications
- Education/Credentials/License.
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, auto insurance and access to a vehicle.
- Experience.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Clearances Required by Applicable Regulations:
- State Police
- FBI
- Child Abuse Clearances
- Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training certificate and/or statement
Working Conditions
- Physical Demands:
- This position requires operating a keypad device 25% of the day and electronic/office equipment 25% of the day. Works in weather conditions about 25% of the day. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows, legs and feet are all routinely used throughout the day. The lower and upper torso is used 75% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. For positions in the School for the Deaf, hearing and speech are not required but ASL proficiency is (see qualifications above). Walking is required 75% of the day. Standing occurs 75% of the day. Sitting happens 25% of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 50% of the day. This function routinely lifts 10 pounds, 5 times per day. The maximum lift is over 50 pounds, 1 time per day. The position requires the ability to implement physical interventions and meet the physical demands of TCI. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

- Working Hours:
- Hours dependent on school schedule. Flexibility to meet student needs.
- PRSD is on a 12-month schedule. PRSA and Day Schools are on a 10-month/ school year schedule.
