Vice President of Growth - Space, Defense & National Security USSF

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President of Growth - Space, Defense & National Security USSF based in United States.

This executive leadership role is focused on accelerating growth strategies across the space, defense, and national security sectors.
You will develop and execute business development initiatives that support critical mission objectives and expand strategic partnerships.
The position requires a deep understanding of government customers, defense ecosystems, emerging technologies, and evolving mission requirements.
You will work closely with executive leaders, technical teams, partners, and customers to shape opportunities and drive long-term business success.

Accountabilities:

As Vice President of Growth - Space, Defense & National Security USSF, you will lead business development strategies, customer engagement efforts, and growth initiatives that expand capabilities within government and defense markets. You will serve as a strategic partner across teams, helping position solutions to address current and future mission needs.

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term growth strategies aligned with business objectives, revenue targets, and strategic plans.
  • Drive pipeline development, customer engagement, and opportunity capture efforts to achieve bookings and revenue goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, defense organizations, strategic partners, vendors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of customer missions, operational requirements, technology gaps, and emerging priorities.
  • Identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and new opportunities to support innovative offerings and strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, finance, marketing, and business teams to create sustainable growth strategies.
  • Engage customers and partners during early opportunity development, including pre-solicitation activities, requests for information (RFIs), and requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Support and improve capture, bid, and proposal processes while maintaining accurate opportunity tracking and reporting.
  • Provide executive-level insights and recommendations to support business strategy and decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and entrepreneurial thinking across the organization.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned growth and business development leader with extensive experience supporting government, defense, and national security missions. You should have a strong ability to build strategic relationships, identify market opportunities, and lead complex growth initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business, management, or a related field; master’s degree in business administration or engineering preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience building capabilities, supporting mission-focused initiatives, or executing operational programs.
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, customer engagement, or growth leadership within U.S. Government, defense, or prime contractor environments.
  • Proven experience leading corporate-level business development activities and presenting strategies to executive leadership.
  • Strong understanding of defense, space, intelligence, and national security markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, partnerships, and strategic opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage customers, partners, executives, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage complex initiatives, influence cross-functional teams, and operate effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Active Top Secret DoD Secret Clearance required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to support business objectives.
