ALGORITHM ENGINEER - PROBABILISTIC PROGRAMMING & BAYESIAN NETWORKS

KEYS FOR SUCCESS:

  • 2-3 years with Bayesian statistics, probabilistic programming, graphical models, Bayesian networks, Bayesian inference, causal networks
  • C#, C++, R, Python, Matlab
  • Experience with machine learning, Python, Tensorflow
  • PhD Preferred

BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR THIS POSITION:

We have always had a close relationship with physics and data. Our optical and electron beam inspection and measurement tools use cutting edge physics models, both for hardware design and as part of their algorithms. AI, including several traditional machine learning techniques and deep learning are routinely used to process this data to meet application requirements.

The AI & Modeling Center of Excellence, centered in our R&D facility (Ann Arbor, MI), was setup with the mission of advancing our traditional strengths in physics and data and providing implementation solutions for multiple Inspection and Metrology products targeted at the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

As a part of this group, you will be part of a world class team of physicists, HPC system designers, machine learning and application engineers who build cutting edge solutions for modeling complex imaging techniques and semiconductor processes. You will also work with a data scientists and AI infrastructure engineers whose mission is to build and scale machine learning based solutions for our semiconductor customers.

We are looking for engineers in a few different fields. If you are passionate about Physics Modeling, High Performance Computing - HPC (including GPU), ML, Data, or Cloud technologies – this is the place for you!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Develop the next generation of algorithms for semiconductor device and thin film metrology. The position requires a proven innovative track record in the related fields of algorithm development, statistical data analysis and signal processing, image analysis and machine learning. The candidate should have a background in engineering/math/physics and be comfortable and conversant in a range of disciplines from optics, information and noise analysis, solving optimization problems (forward and inverse).

The Algorithms Engineer will produce mathematical formulations, develop modeling tools, and perform data analysis and capability predictions on a variety of metrology technologies. The role will closely interface with other members of Advanced Development, Engineering, Algorithm and Application teams. The candidate should demonstrate ability to develop complex data analysis algorithms, software codes that can be used by others, understanding of experimental data analysis, and ability to guide others.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Phd or Masters + 3 years experience in engineering or related area
  • Designing, developing, modifying and diagnosing complex algorithms, utilizing C#, C++, R, Python, Matlab or other tools and languages
  • Ability to invent, develop and implement new algorithms and ideas
  • Statistical analysis, modeling and optimization methods
  • Experience with machine learning, Python, Tensorflow
  • Signal and image processing, computer vision and machine learning
  • Hands-on experience in object-oriented and functional programming
  • Hands-on experience with products such as JMP, R, Python, Matlab is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
