Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized medical coder to join our growing team. In this position, you will review and abstract medical documentation to report the correct ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers for E&M and surgical procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
• Experience in coding from physician documentation, auditing charts, ICD-10, Modifiers, AR, and working with insurance carriers to resolve denials
• Ensure that all codes are current and active
• Report missing or incomplete documentation
• Performs accurate charge entries
• Ensure proper coding on provider documentation
• Serves as a resource regarding denial resolutions and coding questions
• Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
• Performs additional duties assigned as needed
Requirements:Medical Coder Requirements and Qualifications
• High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
• CPC, COC or CGIC by AAPC or CCS by AHIMA license; meet state licensure requirements
• Maintain coding certification and attend in-service training as required
• Minimum Two (2) years recent GI coding and billing experience
• Experience coding and billing Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopies, Pathology and Infusion a plus
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Strong computer skills, knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software; Microsoft Office Suite, Encoder.
• gGastro and gPM experience a plus
• Accurate and detail oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Must be a self-starter who can work independently yet function in a fast-paced team environment
