Role Description
The Buyer is responsible for independently managing the procurement of materials and services required to support Comlux America’s MRO, aircraft completion, and production operations. The position manages assigned suppliers and purchasing activity from requisition through delivery and resolution, with increased responsibility for supplier performance, pricing, delivery, quality, and issue resolution.
The Buyer independently evaluates purchasing requirements, negotiates routine commercial terms, manages supplier commitments, and coordinates cross-functional resolution of material and supplier issues. The position serves as a knowledgeable procurement resource and may provide guidance and support to Buyer I personnel.
Essential Job Functions
· Independently reviews purchasing requirements and places purchase orders in accordance with operational priorities, specifications, approved suppliers, and established procurement procedures.
· Manages assigned supplier relationships and monitors supplier performance related to delivery, quality, pricing, responsiveness, and overall service.
· Negotiates pricing, delivery commitments, payment terms, and other routine commercial requirements within established authority levels.
· Proactively manages supplier lead times and commitments to support MRO, completion, and production schedules.
· Leads expediting activities for critical, shortage, and schedule-sensitive materials and coordinates recovery plans with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
· Identifies potential supply disruptions and develops solutions to minimize impact to production, maintenance, and aircraft completion schedules.
· Coordinates with Engineering, Planning, Production Control, Quality Assurance, Inventory Management, Warehousing, and other departments to resolve purchasing and supplier issues.
· Reviews supplier performance data and identifies recurring delivery, quality, pricing, or service issues requiring corrective action.
· Coordinates supplier non-conformance resolution and follows corrective actions through completion.
· Conducts cost and price analysis and identifies opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, lead-time reduction, and improved commercial terms.
· Documents and reports purchasing savings, cost avoidance, supplier performance, and significant cost escalations.
· Reviews and resolves invoice discrepancies, purchase order variances, pricing differences, and supplier documentation issues.
· Maintains accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, lead-time, and performance information within company systems.
· Supports supplier qualification, evaluation, and ongoing supplier performance reviews.
· Assists with sourcing activities, quote evaluations, competitive bidding, and supplier selection for assigned requirements.
· Supports procurement process improvements and identifies opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, supplier performance, and material availability.
· Provides guidance and assistance to Buyer I personnel on purchasing processes, supplier issues, expediting, and problem resolution.
· Ensures purchasing activities comply with company procedures, quality requirements, applicable regulations, and established approval authorities.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
· Three (3) or more years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience preferred.
· Experience in aerospace, aviation, MRO, manufacturing, or another technically complex operating environment preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
· Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, purchase orders, delivery commitments, and pricing negotiations.
· Experience with ERP, purchasing, inventory, or supply-chain management systems.

· Strong understanding of supplier delivery and quality performance management.
· Ability to effectively coordinate complex issues across multiple departments.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing/ERP systems.
· Ability to provide guidance and technical support to less experienced Buyers.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate procurement records.
· Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment within established authority.
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in an office environment and may require occasional time in an aircraft hangar or production environment. The role may involve:
· Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand aviation environment.
· Extended periods working at a computer
· Occasional exposure to aircraft hangar or production areas
· Walking between office, hangar, and production areas as needed
· Interaction with cross-functional teams in office, shop-floor, and meeting settings
