ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Electronics Technician Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes and amplifiers. This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy. Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Receives work assignments from the supervisor or more qualified technicians.
  • Will be required to possess a good understanding of basic electronic theories and techniques and familiarity with standard electronic components.
  • The Electronics Technician, Maintenance maintains repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
  • The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.
  • Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
  • May be required to obtain specialized certifications and training.
  • Will be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties such as maintenance of government vehicles, facility and grounds maintenance, work area clean-up, or administrative duties as required. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste. Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. May be required to obtain specialized certifications and training. May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics. Requires manual dexterity necessary to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies such as integrated circuit boards.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primary work environment is indoors in a climate-controlled building, but will be required to work outdoors in cold, heat, dust and high humidity. Performs other duties such as maintenance of government vehicles, facility and grounds maintenance, work area clean-up, or administrative duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
