This role focuses on supporting and operating cloud-hosted database environments with a strong emphasis on AWS-based infrastructure and Db2 systems. You will help ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical data platforms that support enterprise and government workloads. Working in a collaborative cloud engineering environment, you will contribute to backup and recovery operations, automation, performance tuning, and secure database administration. The position is well-suited for professionals who want to deepen their expertise in cloud database operations while working on mission-driven systems. You will interact closely with infrastructure and application teams to support scalable deployments and resilient data pipelines. This is a hands-on technical role where stability, security, and continuous improvement are key priorities.
In this role, you will support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of cloud-hosted database systems while ensuring high availability and data integrity. You will assist in automation efforts, performance monitoring, and secure database administration in AWS environments.
- Support backup, restore, and recovery processes to ensure data continuity and protection
- Administer and maintain relational databases including Db2 and other systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and assist in tuning and optimization efforts
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools such as Bash, Python, or Perl
- Support ETL workflows, data pipelines, and data modeling initiatives
- Work in Linux/UNIX environments to manage daily database operations
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to support cloud deployments
- Implement and maintain database security controls, access policies, and compliance requirements
- Document procedures, configurations, and operational standards for knowledge sharing
The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on experience in database administration within cloud or hybrid environments, with a strong focus on AWS and Db2 systems. You are comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across technical teams.
- 5+ years of professional experience as an AWS DBA or Cloud DBA, including Db2
- Active Secret clearance or higher (required) and U.S. citizenship (mandatory)
- Strong experience with relational databases such as Db2, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Solid understanding of AWS and cloud infrastructure concepts
- Experience with Linux/UNIX environments and system operations
- Ability to write and maintain scripts for automation and administration tasks
- Familiarity with database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of ETL processes, data pipelines, and data modeling principles
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and in teams
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and operational discipline
- Competitive salary range: $120,000 – $190,000
